Business Manager Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business manager in Virginia?
Virginia does not require a state-issued license to work as a business manager, so the path runs through education and employer-specific hiring criteria. Most Virginia employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or management. Candidates targeting government contracting roles in Northern Virginia often benefit from earning a Project Management Professional credential or a Certified Federal Contracts Manager designation through the National Contract Management Association, both of which are recognized by major Virginia employers.
Which companies hire business managers in Virginia?
Employers hiring business managers in Virginia right now include Capital One, Amazon, and Amazon Web Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Virginia's large defense and technology contracting sector means federal agencies and prime contractors are among the most consistent sources of business manager openings in the state.
Which Virginia cities have the most business manager jobs?
Richmond, Arlington, and McLean are the Virginia cities with the most business manager openings. Northern Virginia drives the largest share because of its density of federal agencies and defense contractors, while Richmond's concentration of financial services firms, healthcare systems, and state government offices creates consistent demand, and Virginia Beach's military installations and growing commercial sector add a steady base of openings.
Are there remote business manager jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than many management roles. About 52% of business manager openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the large share of tech and professional services employers in the state. Roles focused on financial oversight, program coordination, and corporate operations tend to be the most remote-eligible, while positions tied to facilities, retail, or on-site teams typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a business manager in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an operations coordinator, administrative supervisor, or team lead role that builds direct management exposure. Large Virginia health systems like Inova and VCU Health regularly hire operations associates and administrative coordinators who can advance into business management. Government contractors in Northern Virginia often post analyst and program support roles that develop the contract oversight skills they look for in business managers. Earning a Project Management Professional credential early gives candidates a measurable edge over others at the same experience level.
Where can I find and apply to business manager jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to business manager jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and target market, and apply directly to each employer through the listing.
