Job Title: Staff Accountant

Division/Department: Accounting Department

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Position Summary:

This position will perform accounting and other related duties for the organization. Assisting with month-end and year-end close process, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist Accounting Manager in whatever capacity requested to ensure quality and meet timetables
• Maintain and update accounting records and files
• Prepare documents for audits
• Prepare, examine and analyze financial reports and records
• Conduct month-end and year-end closures
• Work with payors/payees to resolve payment issues
• Review and resolve payment discrepancies with vendors
• Assist staff to resolve accounting operational problems
• Assist with tax preparation on 1099
• Interact with insureds, claimants, vendors, and other contacts to resolve accounting issues or disputes
• Work with liquidators and receivers on accounting related issues
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Utilize PPCIGA claim database, Laserfiche, Word, Excel, Outlook and video conferencing programs
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

This position requires strong mathematical and analytical skills. This in-depth knowledge is usually obtained with a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance. Position requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Communications:

Work involves frequent contact with others beyond immediate associates, including vendors, other guaranty associations, liquidators, insurance regulators and attorneys. Articulate communication by both telephone and in written correspondence require cohesive explanations, tact, and a pleasant manner, where improper handling may have an adverse effect on the Company’s image and reputation.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Overnight travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time.

· Needs to occasionally move about the office to access documents, office machinery, etc.

· Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a copy machine and computer printer.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
