Strong candidates in Pennsylvania pair formal education with hands-on software experience, particularly QuickBooks and payroll platforms common in the state's manufacturing and healthcare sectors.

Which Pennsylvania cities have the most bookkeeper jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg have the most bookkeeper openings in Pennsylvania, reflecting where the state's largest employers and commercial activity are concentrated. Philadelphia leads because of its dense mix of healthcare systems, universities, and corporate headquarters, while Pittsburgh's strength in healthcare and finance keeps demand steady, and Allentown draws openings from the Lehigh Valley's growing logistics and manufacturing base.
Are there remote bookkeeper jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 56% of bookkeeper openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work.
