Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as a Network Analyst
Verify your CIP code matches the role
Your DSO maps your degree to a CIP code to approve the STEM extension. Confirm that your computer science, IT, or engineering CIP code aligns with the Network Analyst job description before accepting an offer, not after.
Check E-Verify enrollment before applying
Run every target employer through the E-Verify employer search tool before your first interview. A company that isn't enrolled can't legally employ you on STEM OPT, no matter how strong the offer looks.
Use O*NET to frame your degree connection
The O*NET profile for Network Analysts lists the core knowledge domains, including computer networks and systems analysis, that hiring managers and DSOs use to justify STEM eligibility. Reference these domains explicitly in your resume and I-983 training plan.
Target employers with active LCA filings
Employers who file Labor Condition Applications through DOL for H-1B workers already understand prevailing wage obligations and sponsor foreign national employees regularly. On Migrate Mate, you can filter Network Analyst roles by verified LCA filing history to focus your search.
Negotiate your I-983 training plan before day one
The I-983 must be signed by your employer and submitted to your DSO before your STEM OPT extension activates. Draft learning objectives tied to specific network infrastructure projects so the plan reflects real training, not a formality that could trigger an ICE audit.
Understand cap-gap if you apply for H-1B
If your employer files an H-1B petition during your STEM OPT period and you're selected in the lottery, cap-gap automatically extends your work authorization through September 30. Confirm USCIS receipt notice dates with your employer to avoid any gap in employment authorization.

Find Network Analyst JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Network Analyst role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Yes, if your degree is in a STEM-designated field such as computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or a related discipline with an approved CIP code. The job itself must involve applying that technical knowledge directly. Your DSO will confirm eligibility when you request the STEM OPT extension through USCIS on Form I-765.
What does the employer's E-Verify requirement mean in practice?
Every employer who hires a STEM OPT student must be enrolled in E-Verify before your start date. E-Verify cross-checks your I-9 employment eligibility documents against federal records. If an employer isn't enrolled, your STEM OPT extension is invalid for that position, even if USCIS approved your EAD. Always verify enrollment status before signing an offer letter.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for a Network Analyst position?
The I-983 must describe the specific network engineering skills and competencies you'll develop, the supervision structure, and how the training connects to your STEM degree. For Network Analyst roles, this typically covers areas like network architecture, security protocols, systems monitoring, and troubleshooting methodologies. Both you and a company official with hiring authority must sign it before your DSO submits the extension.
How does cap-gap protection work if my employer sponsors my H-1B?
If your employer files an H-1B petition on your behalf and USCIS selects it in the lottery before your STEM OPT EAD expires, cap-gap automatically extends your work authorization through September 30 of that year. You can continue working for the same employer without interruption. Your EAD card doesn't need to be reissued; the cap-gap period is governed by the petition receipt date confirmed by USCIS.
Where can I find Network Analyst jobs at E-Verify-enrolled employers?
Migrate Mate filters Network Analyst listings by employers with verified E-Verify enrollment and active DOL Labor Condition Application history, so you're not wasting applications on companies that can't legally hire STEM OPT students. You can search by location, network specialization, and employer type to identify roles that fit your authorization timeline and degree background.
