Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week. Certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description if so.
What’s the interview process like?
It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience interview (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel. We prioritize transparency and lack of surprise throughout the process.
What if I need accommodations for my interview?
At Watershed, we are dedicated to ensuring an inclusive recruitment process. We provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, mental health needs, religious observances, neurodivergence, or pregnancy-related support requirements. If you need assistance during your process, please contact your recruiter.

Strategy Manager Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a strategy manager job in San Francisco?
Focus on San Francisco's dominant hiring sectors: technology platforms, venture-backed growth companies, financial services, and large healthcare systems. Roles concentrate in the Financial District, SoMa, and Mission Bay, so targeting employers in those corridors narrows your search fast. Candidates who combine strong analytical skills with cross-functional experience in product, finance, or operations tend to stand out in this market. An MBA from a well-regarded program adds weight but is not always required for tech-sector roles.
Which companies hire strategy managers in San Francisco?
Employers hiring strategy managers in San Francisco right now include Rippling, DoorDash, and Airwallex, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. San Francisco's hiring base skews toward large technology companies, global financial institutions, and growth-stage startups, many of which maintain dedicated in-house strategy teams rather than relying solely on consulting firms.
Are there remote strategy manager jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though strategy manager roles vary widely: positions focused on analysis, planning, and stakeholder presentations tend to be more remote-friendly, while those tied to cross-functional leadership or executive visibility are typically hybrid or on-site. About 44% of strategy manager openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the city's strong tech-sector norm around flexible work. Fully remote roles are most common among large technology employers headquartered in SoMa and Mission Bay.
How can I get a strategy manager job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an associate or analyst role at a San Francisco technology company or financial services firm, where internal mobility into strategy teams is common. Targeting rotational programs at larger employers in the Financial District or growth-stage startups in SoMa can open the door quickly. Building a portfolio of market analysis or operational improvement projects, even from internships or academic work, gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate. Networking within San Francisco's dense startup and tech communities accelerates the process significantly.
Which industries hire the most strategy managers in San Francisco?
Most strategy manager openings in San Francisco sit in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Banking & Financial Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. San Francisco's concentration of technology headquarters, regional financial institutions, and major healthcare systems creates consistent, year-round demand for in-house strategy talent across those sectors.
