Superintendent Jobs in Wyoming: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a superintendent in Wyoming?
To become a public school superintendent in Wyoming, you must hold a valid Superintendent of Schools license issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board. The pathway requires a master's degree or higher in educational leadership or administration, prior principal or administrator experience, and completion of an approved preparation program. Construction and mining superintendent roles follow a different path centered on project management credentials, trade experience, and employer vetting rather than a state license.
How much do superintendents make in Wyoming?
Superintendents in Wyoming earn a median of about $105,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $85,510 for the lowest 10% to over $126,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire superintendents in Wyoming?
Wyoming superintendent roles are posted by Bechtel, Jobot, and RK and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wyoming's combination of large rural school districts, active energy extraction operations, and ongoing infrastructure development keeps superintendent demand steady across both the public and private sectors.
Which Wyoming cities have the most superintendent jobs?
Cheyenne, Casper, and Wyoming have the most superintendent openings in Wyoming. Cheyenne draws heavily from state government and Laramie County School District, Casper anchors the central Wyoming construction and energy corridor, and Gillette reflects the Powder River Basin's ongoing demand for mining and site superintendents tied to coal and energy operations.
Are there remote superintendent jobs in Wyoming?
Yes, but they're rare. About 6% of superintendent openings tied to Wyoming are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how site-dependent most of these roles are by nature. The portions of superintendent work most compatible with remote arrangements tend to be administrative functions such as curriculum coordination, compliance reporting, and district-level policy work rather than on-site construction or school leadership duties.
How can I get hired as a superintendent in Wyoming with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a principal, assistant principal, or curriculum coordinator role within a Wyoming school district, then building toward superintendent eligibility over time. Large Wyoming districts such as Laramie County School District and Natrona County School District regularly hire building-level administrators who can grow into district leadership. On the construction side, starting as a project coordinator or foreman with a Wyoming energy or infrastructure contractor and earning a project management credential opens the door to site superintendent roles without requiring a state license.
Where can I find and apply to superintendent jobs in Wyoming?
You can find and apply to superintendent jobs in Wyoming on Migrate Mate, which lists current Wyoming openings across education, construction, and energy sectors. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
