Supplier Quality Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a supplier quality engineer in Florida?
Start with a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering from an accredited program, several of which are offered at Florida institutions such as the University of Florida, Florida Tech, and UCF. Florida does not require a state-issued license specifically for supplier quality engineers, but earning the ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Supplier Quality Professional credential is widely expected by Florida aerospace, defense, and medical device employers and significantly strengthens a candidacy.
How much do supplier quality engineers make in Florida?
Supplier quality engineers in Florida earn a median of about $101,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,850 for the lowest 10% to over $156,560 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire supplier quality engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring supplier quality engineers in Florida right now include Siemens Energy, Lockheed Martin, and Mirion, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of aerospace primes, medical device manufacturers, and defense contractors along the Space Coast and in the Tampa Bay area makes it one of the more active supplier quality markets in the country.
Which Florida cities have the most supplier quality engineer jobs?
Orlando, Melbourne, and Lake Mary account for the largest share of supplier quality engineer openings in Florida. Orlando and the nearby Space Coast corridor around Melbourne and Cocoa Beach are driven by aerospace and defense manufacturing anchored by major primes and their tier-one suppliers, while Tampa draws demand from medical device, electronics, and defense firms concentrated across Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
Are there remote supplier quality engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. Supplier quality engineering is fundamentally a hands-on role that requires on-site supplier visits, incoming inspection, and floor-level audits, which limits remote options significantly. About 50% of supplier quality engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to cover documentation, supplier development planning, and corrective action coordination rather than physical inspection duties.
How can I get hired as a supplier quality engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a quality technician or quality inspector role at a Florida aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturer, which builds the hands-on auditing and inspection experience employers require. Large Florida employers including Lockheed Martin and Jabil hire new graduates into manufacturing or quality associate programs that rotate through supplier-facing functions. Pursuing an ASQ Certified Quality Technician credential early, and gaining exposure to ISO or AS9100 documentation in any adjacent role such as manufacturing engineer or quality assurance analyst, makes the transition to a junior SQE position considerably faster.
Where can I find and apply to supplier quality engineer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to supplier quality engineer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across aerospace, medical device, defense, and manufacturing sectors. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to the employers posting them.
