Overview
The Supply Chain Operations Specialist plays a critical role in executing day-to-day supply chain operations by supporting both Inventory Management and Procurement functions. This position is responsible for ensuring inventory transactions, purchasing activities, and ERP data are executed accurately, timely, and in accordance with company procedures.
Approximately 60% of the role focuses on inventory transaction execution, inventory control support, and weekend operational coverage, while the remaining 40% supports procurement execution, purchase order reconciliation, and purchasing administration.
This role provides critical operational support during weekends while maintaining weekday overlap with the Inventory Control Analyst to improve workload distribution, process continuity, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Operations (Approximately 60%)
- Execute inventory transactions within JD Edwards including goods receipts, stock transfers, sales orders, inventory adjustments, and inventory reclassifications
- Support transactional inventory activities to ensure inventory accuracy across manufacturing plants, staging yards, and customer locations
- Assist with monthly inventory cycle counts, reconciliations, investigations, and discrepancy resolution
- Review inventory movements for accuracy and resolve transactional issues
- Coordinate inventory-related communication between Logistics, Manufacturing, Client Fulfillment, Accounting, and Field Operations
- Monitor operational queues and ensure transactional activities are completed within required service levels
- Provide weekend inventory support for manufacturing and field operations
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure audit compliance
- Assist the Inventory Control Analyst with daily transactional workload and reporting
Procurement Operations (Approximately 40%)
- Support purchase requisition processing and purchase order maintenance
- Review and reconcile purchase orders against receipts and vendor invoices
- Identify and resolve routine procurement discrepancies
- Maintain procurement documentation and purchasing records
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and internal controls
- Generate reports supporting procurement operations
- Escalate non-routine purchasing issues to Procurement Specialist II or Supply Chain leadership
- Assist with vendor communication regarding routine purchasing activities
Cross-Functional Responsibilities
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy across all ERP transactions
- Execute established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to simplify transactional processes
- Ensure timely communication during shift transitions and weekend handoffs
- Partner with Inventory, Procurement, Manufacturing, Client Fulfillment, Logistics, Accounting, and Field Operations
- Respond professionally and promptly to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain documentation supporting audit readiness and regulatory compliance
Candidate Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in Supply Chain, Inventory, Procurement, Logistics, or Operations
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience working within an ERP system
Preferred Requirements
- JD Edwards experience
- Oil & Gas or Chemical industry experience
- Experience supporting both inventory and procurement functions
- Experience with inventory reconciliation and purchasing processes
- Knowledge of inventory control best practices
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a scheduled workweek of Friday through Tuesday from 8 am to 5 pm. Occasional overtime or schedule adjustments may be required to support business operations.
Travel
This position requires less than 10% travel.
