JOB SUMMARY
The Merchandising Support Analyst provides analytical, process, and execution support to the Merchandising organization by turning cost, vendor, category, and performance data into clear insights and actionable recommendations. This role partners closely with Merchandising teams, Strategic Sourcing, and cross-functional business partners to support supplier strategy, cost management, vendor performance, and category decision-making. The analyst will help build fact-based materials, dashboards, and business cases that support cost mitigation, vendor negotiations, and category development decisions.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Cost Policy process by modeling the financial impact of vendor cost changes, analyzing cost movement, and providing insights that support cost mitigation and negotiation decisions.
- Manage and track cross-functional stages of cost policy, vendor submission reviews, and related process requirements to ensure adherence to guidelines and timelines.
- Regularly engage with Merchandising teams and cross-functional business partners to provide initiative-taking insights, respond to analytical requests, and support merchandise initiatives.
- Prepare cost, vendor, and category materials for leadership reviews, management decks, and recurring business updates.
- Develop, synthesize, and maintain Merchandise and vendor scorecards by tracking performance, interpreting results, and identifying actionable category development opportunities.
- Analyze multiple data points, including cost changes, commodity movement, vendor performance, and category trends, to create a clear business storyline and recommendation.
- Support development and evolution of multi-year vendor and merchandise strategies aligned to strategic goals, including vendor evaluation, assortment considerations, and category opportunities.
- Build dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools that help stakeholders understand vendor cost movement, cost mitigation progress, and key business drivers.
- Provide excellent customer service to the Merchandising organization through accurate analytics, timely execution, and strong follow-through.
- Support Joint Business Planning (JBP) activities through supplier analytics, performance tracking, fact-based negotiation materials, and identification of cost recovery or growth opportunities.

- Communicates findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to Merchandising, category managers, sourcing managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Uses data to assess business situations, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions with appropriate business context.

- Adapts quickly to shifting priorities, new business needs, and evolving merchandise processes while maintaining strong execution quality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master's degree preferred but not required.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of experience utilizing analytics, financial modeling, category/vendor analysis, or business reporting to support decisions.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Ability to thrive in a demanding environment, manage multiple competing priorities, and execute with an elevated level of accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to combine multiple data sources into a clear business case and practical recommendation.
- Experience building and analyzing financial models, cost scenarios, dashboards, scorecards, and management reporting materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, Circana, Datalake, SQL/query tools, Oracle reporting, or other data tools preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate data-driven insights for non-technical audiences.
- Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail, with a focus on analytics, execution, and verification.
- Customer-service mindset and ability to support Merchandising stakeholders with timely, accurate, and actionable analysis.
- Function as an early warning system by proactively identifying supplier, cost, promotional, and risks
before they become business issues.
- Translate complex data into executive-ready insights that help leaders quickly understand exposure, opportunities, recommended actions, and expected business impact.
- Provide visibility to decision ownership, action plans, and progress tracking to improve accountability and accelerate issue resolution across cross-functional teams.
