Becoming a talent acquisition director in Massachusetts follows a progression through HR generalist or recruiter roles into team leadership, with no state-issued license required. Most hiring managers expect a bachelor's degree in human resources or business alongside substantial years leading recruiting teams. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is widely recognized by Massachusetts employers, particularly in financial services and life sciences, and strengthens candidacy at the director level.
How much do talent acquisition directors make in Massachusetts?
Talent acquisition directors in Massachusetts earn a median of about $181,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $99,990 for the lowest 10% to over $315,700 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire talent acquisition directors in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring talent acquisition directors in Massachusetts right now include Tulip Interfaces, Biogen, and Heritage Holding, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of large healthcare systems, asset management firms, and biotech companies means these roles often require experience hiring across technical, clinical, or highly regulated talent pipelines.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most talent acquisition director jobs?
Boston, Milford, and Cambridge hold the most talent acquisition director openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge drive the bulk of demand through the region's headquarters-heavy mix of financial services firms, life sciences companies, and major academic medical centers, while Worcester's growing healthcare and manufacturing base generates a consistent share of director-level openings outside the core metro.

Yes, and more than most fields. About 77% of talent acquisition director openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on interviews, stakeholder calls, and ATS management rather than physical presence. Strategic planning and executive search components are most frequently performed remotely, while new-hire orientation and employer branding events typically require in-person attendance.
How can I get hired as a talent acquisition director in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a talent acquisition coordinator or recruiter role at a large Massachusetts employer, then building a record of ownership over a full hiring cycle.
