Tax Intern Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax intern in Georgia?
Most tax intern positions in Georgia require active enrollment in an accredited accounting or finance program, ideally with at least one tax course completed. Georgia does not require a state license to work as a tax intern, but candidates pursuing CPA licensure will eventually need to meet the Georgia State Board of Accountancy requirements, including the required credit hours in accounting and business. Applying early through university recruiting programs at Georgia-based accounting firms gives candidates the strongest footing.
Which companies hire tax interns in Georgia?
Companies currently hiring tax interns in Georgia include Moore Colson, Alvarez & Marsal, and Frazier & Deeter, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of Big Four accounting firms, regional CPA firms, and large corporate headquarters in the Atlanta metro creates consistent intern demand across both public accounting and industry tax teams.
Which Georgia cities have the most tax intern jobs?
Atlanta, Savannah, and Alpharetta have the most tax intern openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it serves as the Southeast headquarters for the Big Four firms, major regional accounting practices, and Fortune 500 corporate tax departments, while Alpharetta's dense technology and financial services corridor generates steady corporate tax intern demand, and Savannah's growing industrial and logistics base supports entry-level tax roles tied to multistate compliance.
Are there remote tax intern jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than many entry-level finance roles. About 50% of tax intern openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and document-driven nature of tax work. Federal income tax compliance, tax research, and return preparation tasks are the functions most commonly performed remotely, while client-facing and audit-support duties more often require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a tax intern in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured campus recruiting programs run by Atlanta-based offices of national and regional accounting firms, which are specifically designed for students with no prior professional tax experience. The Big Four and firms like KPMG, BDO, and Aprio recruit directly through Georgia State University, Emory, and the University of Georgia. Completing federal and Georgia income tax coursework, earning a high GPA in accounting subjects, and sitting for the first section of the CPA exam early all strengthen a candidate's profile considerably.
Where can I find and apply to tax intern jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to tax intern jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings updated regularly. Search for roles that match your experience level, preferred location, and area of tax work, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No profile creation is required to see or apply to the listings.
