Role Summary
We are seeking a high-potential Cybersecurity Operations Intern to support our Biomedical Cybersecurity Team. This is not a passive "shadowing" role. It is an accelerated development program designed to transition you from Intern to Cybersecurity Specialist Level III within 90 days.
You will work directly under Senior Analysts, providing critical support to the Department Director. While core data analysis is an important component of the position, the cornerstone of this internship is Agile Task Management: the ability to manage "other duties as assigned" with the discipline, organization, and accountability of a project manager.
You will gain exposure to high-level Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) initiatives and will be coached/expected to perform well beyond the traditional entry-level baseline.
Specialized Direct Reporting Tasks
You will own four critical project domains. These are not routine service tickets but ongoing initiatives that directly support our cybersecurity and compliance posture.
- Framework Implementation (ISO 27001 Focus): Assist in the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Information Security Management System (ISMS). You will help map operational controls to ISO 27001 requirements, ensuring that daily security practices align with international compliance standards.
- Internal Cyber Audit Support: Serve as the primary evidence coordinator for internal audits. You will collect artifacts, validate control effectiveness, and organize supporting documentation to ensure our department remains audit-ready at all times.
- Security Risk Assessments (SRAs): Support the implementation and tracking of risk controls. You will correlate asset criticality with vulnerability data to help leadership visualize, prioritize, and manage remediation efforts across our department.
- Implementation Project Support: Support a variety of projects impacting our department and organization.
Core Operational Responsibilities
Beyond special projects, you will help ensure the efficient operation of the security function.
- Projectization of Requirements: Transform incoming requests into structured projects. You will define scope, deliverables, timelines, and ownership, converting ad hoc tasks into managed and trackable workstreams.
- Task Coordination: Manage the lifecycle of operational tasks from assignment through completion, ensuring priorities remain visible and requirements do not fall through the cracks.
- Reporting & Maintenance: Develop, maintain, and enhance operational reports. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of data presented to leadership, enabling informed decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Requirements
- Education: Associate of Science (AS) degree in a technical or business-related field required. A bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) with a focus in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Assurance, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Data Analytics Proficiency: Ability to manipulate and analyze raw data using Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and advanced formulas, as well as CSV data sources. Must be capable of cleaning, organizing, and interpreting datasets to support vulnerability management, compliance efforts, and audit preparation.
- Security Fundamentals: Strong theoretical understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and fundamental cybersecurity principles, with the ability to apply these concepts to real-world security operations.
- Visualization Skills: Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information into intuitive charts, diagrams, dashboards, and graphical reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Travel: Frequent travel between organizational sites may be required. Candidates must possess reliable transportation and be willing to travel as needed.

- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent foundational IT and cybersecurity certifications.

Operations Intern Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations intern in Georgia?
Operations intern roles in Georgia do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and practical readiness. Most Georgia employers look for candidates enrolled in a business, supply chain, industrial engineering, or related degree program at institutions like Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, or Georgia State. Building skills in process analysis, Excel, and project coordination, then applying directly through company internship portals each fall or spring recruiting cycle, is the standard route.
Which companies hire operations interns in Georgia?
Companies currently hiring operations interns in Georgia include Target, White Cap, and NCR, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Georgia's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, major logistics hubs, and manufacturing operations creates consistent demand for operations interns well beyond the Atlanta metro alone.
Which Georgia cities have the most operations intern jobs?
Atlanta, Savannah, and Griffin account for the largest share of operations intern openings in Georgia. Atlanta's concentration of corporate headquarters and distribution centers drives the bulk of listings, while Savannah's status as one of the country's fastest-growing port cities fuels strong logistics and supply chain demand, and Augusta's growing healthcare and cybersecurity sectors generate steady process and operations roles.
Are there remote operations intern jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. About 50% of operations intern openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting that most operations roles involve on-site coordination, warehouse or distribution floor presence, or in-person team collaboration. The portions most likely to support remote or hybrid arrangements are analytical and reporting tasks, such as data tracking, process documentation, and dashboard management.
How can I get hired as a operations intern in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured internship programs designed specifically for students without prior professional experience. Large Georgia employers like The Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, and Genuine Parts Company run formal rotational or summer internship tracks open to first and second-year students. Completing a supply chain or operations-focused coursework project, earning a free Lean fundamentals certificate, or taking on a campus logistics or event coordination role builds the portfolio that makes a no-experience application competitive.
Where can I find and apply to operations intern jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to operations intern jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your target city, industry, or internship length, then apply directly to whichever ones fit your background and timeline.
