Swiss CNC Technical Specialist / Shop Floor Lead

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Swiss CNC machinist/programmer to join our team and serve as a technical resource on the shop floor. We are looking for experience first. If you have spent years around Swiss CNC machines and can walk up to a machine and figure out what's wrong, and experience using ESPRIT (or a similar program) for programming and process development, we want to talk to you.

You'll ideally have:

• Several years of hands-on Swiss CNC machining experience.
• Strong knowledge of Tsugami Swiss-type CNC machines.
• Experience with ESPRIT or similar CAM software.
• Strong CNC programming and troubleshooting skills.
• A solid understanding of tooling, feeds and speeds, work-holding, and machining practices.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
• Experience working with tight-tolerance and/or complex parts.
• Experience in an AS9100 or aerospace manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with quality systems, document control, traceability, nonconformance, and corrective action processes.
• The ability to troubleshoot problems independently and make sound decisions on the shop floor.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with operators, programmers, quality, and management.

What You'll Do

Swiss CNC / Production Support

• Provide hands-on technical support for our Swiss CNC machines.
• Help oversee day-to-day operation of our Swiss machining department.
• Troubleshoot machine, tooling, programming, and setup problems on the shop floor.
• Use ESPRIT to develop, modify, and optimize Swiss CNC programs.
• Work with Tsugami Swiss machines and help troubleshoot machine-specific issues.
• Help train and mentor developing machinists and operators.
• Evaluate new tooling, machining techniques, and process improvements.

AS9100 / Quality Responsibilities

• Follow and reinforce company procedures and requirements related to AS9100 and the Quality Management System.
• Ensure production documents are properly controlled and followed and maintain accurate production and inspection records and ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Support proper identification and traceability of materials, parts, tooling, and production records as required.
• Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to machining or production issues.
• Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities and help prevent recurrence of machining-related defects by identifying process weaknesses and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Support internal and external AS9100 audits by providing technical information, records, and shop-floor support as needed.
• Promote a culture of quality, traceability, process discipline, and continuous improvement throughout the machining department.

The Person We're Looking For

The right person may have a background as a Swiss CNC programmer, setup machinist, lead machinist, applications engineer, or manufacturing engineer—but the title isn't as important as the experience.

You should be someone who likes figuring things out, takes ownership, understands the importance of quality and documentation, and knows how to get results on the shop floor.
