About the Role
The Building Engineering Services Business Group (BES BG) Director of Technology will work as part of our Professional Services leadership team, with the primary function of driving a strategic vision and leading a team of experts in the implementation of technology solutions across the multidisciplinary BES consulting practice. In this role, you will collaborate closely with BES leadership, Corporate Technology, operational leadership, technology leaders from throughout the organization, vendors, and other stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and deploy technology initiatives that enhance project execution, efficiency, and innovation. This position reports to the Professional Services Director and success is measured by the development of effective technology solutions for consulting and project delivery, talent-oriented growth, fostering a technology-focused community of practice, shaping long-term strategic plans, leveraging technology as a market differentiator, and positioning HDR as an industry leader.
Primary Responsibilities
In this role, we'll count on you to:
- Lead a team of technical experts to develop and execute a BES technology vision and roadmap, including strategy and investment planning.
- Integrate market-driven, innovative strategies with practical implementation and risk management.
- Develop communication strategies to connect BES technology professionals and inform key stakeholders.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to engage and inform critical BES stakeholders of technology program, including geographic leadership and market sector leadership.
- Standardize technology workflows and delivery practices to improve efficiency and quality.
- Promote thought leadership through strategy regarding industry awards, publications, speaking engagements, and leadership roles in technology relevant industry organizations.
- Lead visioning for technology workforce of the future. Recruit, develop, and retain technology talent.
- Partner with key stakeholders to identify and develop a network of Technical Experts/Subject Matter Experts as needed to support the HDR enterprise.
- Work to identify programmatic hardware and software needs, such as high-powered computing and modeling, and work with corporate information technology to facilitate and implement solutions.
- Develop strategies and support practice and professional discipline groups to foster technology talent collaboration and skills development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field
- Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
- Works cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with a few of the following is a plus:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, information science, systems administration, or similar related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with at least 5 in the consulting Architecture & Engineering industry.
- Proven leader with a growth mind-set and the ability to develop and implement technology strategies and drive organizational change.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams to find solutions that advance projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrated understanding of a broad range of technologies and their applied delivery within the architectural-engineering sector.

The expected compensation range for this position is $183,530.00 - $262,185.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits. Pay Transparency in Illinois: $192,269.00- $274,670.00, Ontario, CA: $199,640.00 - $327,980.00)
