Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Business Account Executive
Frame your role as Management Consultant
TN visas have no dedicated Business Account Executive category, so your offer letter must describe the role in terms of analyzing client business needs, developing strategic solutions, and providing professional-level consulting. A vague sales title without this framing gets denied.
Target employers with defined onboarding timelines
Ask during the offer stage whether the company has sponsored TN visas before and what their internal legal review timeline looks like. Canadian applicants can enter at the border within days, but employers unfamiliar with TN may build unnecessary delays into your start date.
Verify your degree aligns to the consulting function
CBP officers look for a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. A degree in an unrelated discipline, even paired with years of sales experience, can raise admissibility questions at the port of entry or consulate.
Search specifically for TN sponsorship using Migrate Mate
Generic job boards don't filter for TN-ready employers. Migrate Mate lets you search Business Account Executive roles by companies with active TN visa sponsorship history, so you're targeting employers who already understand the process.
Get your offer letter to specify duties precisely
Before applying, push the employer to list specific consulting-adjacent duties in the offer letter: needs assessments, solution design, account strategy development. CBP officers at the port of entry scrutinize whether the described work genuinely requires specialized professional-level knowledge that matches your educational background.
Prepare for Mexican consular appointment lead times
Mexican nationals must process through a U.S. consulate and face limited TN allocations annually. Book your consular appointment as soon as you have a signed offer letter. Delays in scheduling, not the approval itself, are what typically push back start dates.
Business Account Executive TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Business Account Executive role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It depends entirely on how the role is defined. The TN visa's Management Consultant category covers positions that require specialized business expertise to analyze organizational needs and recommend solutions. If your offer letter describes the role in those professional terms rather than as a general sales position, it can qualify. Roles focused purely on quota-driven selling with no consulting component are harder to approve.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for a Business Account Executive position?
The TN visa has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadian citizens, and can be obtained at the Canadian border in a single day with the right documentation. H-1B visa requires surviving a random lottery and waiting nearly a year before starting work. For Canadian and Mexican professionals in account executive roles, TN is faster and more predictable than the H-1B route, assuming the role meets the specialty occupation or Management Consultant criteria.
How do I find Business Account Executive jobs where the employer will sponsor a TN visa?
Most employers experienced with visa sponsorship are open to supporting TN status, but they rarely advertise it. Migrate Mate filters job listings for companies with recent visa filings, so you can focus your outreach on employers who already understand work visa processes and are likely familiar with TN requirements for your role.
What documents do I need for a TN visa as a Business Account Executive?
You'll need a signed offer letter describing your duties in professional consulting terms, proof of your bachelor's degree in a qualifying field such as business administration or marketing, and your valid Canadian or Mexican passport. Canadian citizens present these directly to a CBP officer at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals submit them as part of a consular visa application at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
Can I change employers after getting TN status as a Business Account Executive?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to a specific employer and job description. When you move to a new company, your new employer needs to support a fresh TN application before you start working for them. Canadian citizens can handle this at the border or through USCIS by filing a change of employer petition. You cannot simply transfer your existing TN to the new role without this step.
