Align your degree to the role description
TN visa approval for account executive roles depends on matching your specific degree field to the job duties on record. A degree in business administration or marketing paired with enterprise sales responsibilities strengthens your category argument significantly.
Request a duties-forward employer support letter
Ask your employer to describe your daily responsibilities before listing your title. Officers assess TN eligibility on actual duties, and a letter that leads with strategic account management language rather than generic titles reduces the risk of a secondary review.
Target companies with existing cross-border hiring experience
Employers who have already hired Canadian or Mexican professionals under TN status are faster to navigate the support letter and filing process. Look for job postings that explicitly reference USMCA or international applicants rather than filtering only by visa sponsorship language.
Prepare for the management consultant category scrutiny
Commercial account executive roles most commonly file under the Management Consultant TN category, which USCIS officers examine closely. Your employer support letter must describe consulting-style client advisory work, not general sales activity, to survive that review.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN-sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers experienced with visa sponsorship in commercial sales roles. Filtering by employers with recent visa filings saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with sponsoring international talent.
Confirm your Mexican TN timeline before accepting an offer
Mexican citizens must schedule a consular interview, which adds several weeks to the start date. Negotiate your start date only after confirming your earliest available consulate appointment so your employer's timeline and your visa processing window actually align.
Commercial Account Executive TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Commercial Account Executive role qualify for TN visa status?
It can, but qualification depends on your specific job duties and the TN category your employer uses to support the petition. Roles that emphasize strategic account planning, client advisory services, and cross-functional coordination map more cleanly to the Management Consultant category. Purely transactional sales roles with no advisory component are harder to support under the available TN categories.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as the status is approved, often the same day at the port of entry. H-1B visa requires a lottery selection, a full USCIS petition cycle, and an October 1 start date. For a Commercial Account Executive with a qualifying degree and a Canadian or Mexican passport, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
Where can I find Commercial Account Executive jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface U.S. employers sponsoring TN visa professionals, including Commercial Account Executive roles. Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type or USMCA history, which means most TN-eligible postings are buried. Migrate Mate lets you search by role and identify employers who have already navigated the TN process.
What does the employer support letter need to say for a TN Commercial Account Executive application?
The letter must describe your specific duties, confirm the TN professional category being claimed, state that you hold the required degree, and confirm the temporary nature of the engagement. For account executive roles, the letter should detail client-facing advisory responsibilities rather than sales quotas or revenue targets, which do not map cleanly to any TN professional category.
Can a Mexican citizen get TN status for a Commercial Account Executive job at a U.S. employer?
Yes, but Mexican TN applicants must go through consular processing at a U.S. embassy or consulate rather than applying at the port of entry like Canadian citizens. This adds time, so you should factor in consulate appointment availability when negotiating your start date. The documentary requirements are the same: a qualifying degree, a valid job offer, and a detailed employer support letter.
