Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist
Align your credentials to the Physical Therapist category
TN classification for Clinical Exercise Physiologists falls under Physical Therapist, so your credential documentation needs to frame your scope of practice accordingly. A degree in kinesiology or exercise science paired with ACSM-EP certification is the standard package CBP officers expect to see.
Target hospital systems with established cardiac rehab programs
Cardiac rehab departments hire Clinical Exercise Physiologists under clear medically supervised protocols, which makes the TN specialty occupation argument straightforward. Standalone fitness centers or wellness-only roles can draw scrutiny at the port of entry because the clinical nexus is harder to establish.
Request a detailed offer letter that names your clinical duties
A vague offer letter describing general fitness programming can get your TN denied at the border. Ask your employer to specify medically prescribed exercise testing, individualized treatment plans, and physician collaboration in the letter before you travel.
Understand the Mexican consular processing timeline before accepting
Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment rather than presenting at a land port, so factor four to eight weeks into your start date negotiation. Confirming your employer understands this before you sign an offer avoids conflicts when your start date needs to shift.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers already filing TN petitions
Not every hospital that hires exercise physiologists is experienced with work visa sponsorship. Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with recent visa filings in clinical settings, so you spend your time on roles where the employer has demonstrated familiarity with immigration processes.
Prepare for CBP questions about your degree field at the port of entry
Canadians applying at the border should be ready to explain how a kinesiology or exercise science degree connects to clinical practice, since CBP officers may not immediately equate it with the Physical Therapist TN category. Bring your ACSM-EP or RCEP certificate and your transcripts to support that connection on the spot.

Find Clinical Exercise Physiologist JobsClinical Exercise Physiologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Clinical Exercise Physiologist qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, but the classification requires careful framing. CBP adjudicates Clinical Exercise Physiologist roles under the Physical Therapist TN category when the position involves medically prescribed exercise programs, clinical assessment, and physician-supervised patient care. Roles that look more like personal training or general wellness coaching don't meet the threshold. Your employer's offer letter and your ACSM-EP or RCEP credentials are the documents that carry the most weight in that determination.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Clinical Exercise Physiologist positions?
TN is faster and more predictable for this role. There's no annual lottery, no cap exposure for Canadians, and Canadian citizens can obtain TN status at a port of entry the same day with the right documentation. H-1B requires a lottery selection in April, a months-long adjudication process, and an October 1 start date. For a clinical role with a specific hire date, TN eliminates the uncertainty that makes H-1B impractical for many employers.
What credentials do Canadian and Mexican applicants need to qualify?
A bachelor's degree or higher in kinesiology, exercise science, or a closely related field is the foundation. Most successful TN applications for this role also include an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist credential or the RCEP designation from ACSM. CBP wants to see that your education and certification connect directly to clinical practice, not general fitness instruction. Your transcripts should accompany your application to confirm the degree field.
How do I find Clinical Exercise Physiologist jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with a documented history of sponsoring TN visas in clinical and healthcare settings. Many hospital systems and cardiac rehab programs hire internationally but don't advertise TN sponsorship explicitly in job postings. Filtering by employers who have processed TN cases before significantly narrows your list to organizations whose HR and legal teams already understand the classification.
Can my TN visa be renewed if I stay in the same Clinical Exercise Physiologist role?
Yes. TN status is granted in two-year increments for Mexican citizens and three-year increments for Canadians, with no statutory limit on renewals. As long as your employer remains the same, your duties haven't materially changed, and you continue to meet the Physical Therapist TN category requirements, renewal is straightforward. Canadians can renew at a port of entry or through USCIS; Mexican citizens must return to a consulate for each renewal.
