Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Recreation Assistant
Match your credentials to the occupation list
TN classification for Recreation Assistants depends on fitting the Recreation Worker category. Gather your degree transcripts, certifications in recreation or leisure studies, and any provincial or national credentials before you approach a single employer.
Target employers with existing TN infrastructure
Municipal parks departments, hospital recreation therapy programs, and resort operators already file TN petitions regularly. These workplaces have HR teams that understand the support letter and credential requirements, so your application moves faster.
Request a TN-specific offer letter early
The employer's support letter must name your occupation as Recreation Worker, describe your duties, and confirm the position is temporary. Ask for this document before you give notice at your current job, not after accepting the offer.
Prepare for Canadian port-of-entry processing
Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. land border or preclearance airport with your offer letter, credentials, and passport. CBP officers adjudicate TN applications on the spot, so bring originals and organized copies of every document.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers sponsoring TN visas
Search Migrate Mate to identify Recreation Assistant openings at employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. The platform filters roles by visa type so you spend time on applications where sponsorship is already confirmed, not assumed.
Understand the renewal cycle before your first filing
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with unlimited renewals. Coordinate your renewal timeline with your employer's HR or legal team at least 90 days before expiry so a lapsed status doesn't interrupt your employment.

Find Recreation Assistant JobsRecreation Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Recreation Assistant role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
It can, but the classification depends on how your employer describes the role. TN uses the Recreation Worker occupation category, and CBP officers look for a formal degree in recreation, leisure studies, or a related field paired with duties that match that specialty. Roles that are primarily custodial or general labor will not qualify, even if the title says Recreation Assistant.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can secure status at the border the same day you apply with a qualifying offer. H-1B requires employer sponsorship months in advance, a lottery selection, and a waiting period. For Recreation Assistants who are Canadian or Mexican citizens, TN is a significantly faster and more predictable path when the role meets the specialty occupation definition.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must supply a signed support letter on company letterhead that states your job title as Recreation Worker, describes your specific duties, confirms the temporary nature of the position, and lists your start date and compensation. Without this letter, CBP cannot process your TN application at the border or through consular channels.
Where can I find Recreation Assistant jobs with confirmed TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter Recreation Assistant openings by TN visa sponsorship status, so you're only seeing roles where the employer has already indicated willingness to support the filing. That removes the guesswork of cold-applying and then discovering late that an employer won't engage with TN paperwork.
Can Mexican citizens get TN sponsorship for Recreation Assistant positions the same way Canadians can?
The qualification criteria are identical, but the process differs. Mexican citizens must apply through a U.S. consulate rather than at the border, which adds processing time and requires scheduling a visa interview. The employer's support letter and your credential documentation are the same. A limited annual allocation applies to Mexican TN applicants, though this category has not historically been exhausted.
