Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Registered Veterinary Technician
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
TN approval requires proof your education matches the role. A foreign credential evaluation confirming your veterinary technology diploma or degree meets U.S. equivalency strengthens your application and reduces RFE risk at the port of entry.
Target clinics with multi-location or corporate ownership
Larger veterinary groups and corporate-owned practices file TN paperwork more frequently than independent clinics. Their HR teams already understand employer letter requirements, so you spend less time educating the hiring manager about sponsorship.
Confirm your state license before the offer stage
Most U.S. states require RVT licensure through the VTNE before you can practice. Employers will ask for proof of licensure or eligibility during hiring. Starting the state licensing process early prevents delays after you receive a job offer.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready RVT employers
Searching broadly for veterinary technician roles wastes time on employers unfamiliar with TN sponsorship. Migrate Mate filters listings specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals, connecting you with practices already open to TN visa hires.
Request a detailed employer support letter at offer
CBP officers reviewing TN applications at the border need an employer letter describing your specific duties, your credentials, and the professional nature of the role. A vague letter is a common cause of delays or denials, so get this right before travel.
Understand the TN renewal timeline for Mexican citizens
Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate rather than a land border. Consulate appointment availability varies by location. Build at least eight to twelve weeks of lead time into your timeline before your intended start date.

Find Registered Veterinary Technician JobsRegistered Veterinary Technician TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Registered Veterinary Technician qualify for a TN visa?
Yes. Veterinary Technician is explicitly listed as a qualifying TN occupation under USMCA Appendix 2. Your education must be in veterinary technology or a closely related field, and your employer must document that the role requires professional-level veterinary technician duties, not just general animal care work.
How does TN compare to H-1B for RVT roles in the U.S.?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and can be issued at the border on the same day for Canadian citizens. H-1B requires a lottery entry in March with work authorization not starting until October at the earliest. For Canadian and Mexican RVTs, TN is a faster and more predictable path to U.S. employment than H-1B.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead that includes your job title, a description of your specific duties, confirmation of the professional nature of the role, your anticipated start date, and the terms of employment. The letter does not go to USCIS for Canadian citizens applying at the border, but CBP officers examine it closely.
Where can I find RVT jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter for visa sponsorship willingness, so you spend time applying to employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN visa roles, letting you search Registered Veterinary Technician positions with employers already open to sponsoring TN status.
Can I switch veterinary employers while on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. If you change jobs, your new employer must support a fresh TN application. Canadian citizens can do this at a port of entry without advance filing. Mexican citizens need a new consular appointment. You should not stop working for your current employer until the new TN is approved.
