Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Rehabilitation Psychologist
Verify your license transfers across borders
TN sponsorship requires active licensure, but a Canadian provincial psychology license doesn't automatically satisfy a U.S. state board. Confirm your credentials qualify for licensure by endorsement in the state where you'll practice before applying.
Target healthcare systems over private practices
Large hospital networks and VA medical centers have established TN filing workflows. Smaller private practices often haven't sponsored a TN before, which adds friction to an otherwise straightforward process and delays your start date.
Search TN-sponsored Rehabilitation Psychologist roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter for Rehabilitation Psychologist positions at employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. It cuts out the guesswork of cold-applying to practices unfamiliar with the TN process.
Request a support letter that names your doctoral specialty
Your employer's support letter must reference your specific psychology doctoral degree and the rehabilitative scope of the role. Generic job offer letters that omit the specialty field are a common CBP rejection trigger for psychologist TN applications.
Prepare for CBP questions on your rehabilitative scope of practice
At the port of entry, CBP officers may ask how your duties fit the USMCA psychologist category. Have a concise explanation ready that ties your neurological, physical, or vocational rehabilitation work directly to your doctoral training.

Find Rehabilitation Psychologist JobsRehabilitation Psychologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Rehabilitation Psychologist qualify for the TN visa?
Yes. Psychologist is a named occupation on the USMCA TN list, and rehabilitation psychology falls within that category. You need a doctoral degree in psychology, active licensure, and a U.S. job offer. The rehabilitative specialization doesn't require a separate category, but your support letter should describe your duties clearly.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Rehabilitation Psychologists?
TN is faster and simpler for this role. Canadians get immediate adjudication at a port of entry with no lottery, no USCIS petition, and no cap. H-1B requires a lottery entry in March, a six-month wait if selected, and significantly more employer paperwork. For most Canadian rehabilitation psychologists, TN is the practical first choice.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for TN sponsorship?
Your employer provides a signed support letter on company letterhead that states your job title, duties, doctoral degree requirement, and employment terms. It doesn't need to be filed with any government agency in advance. For Canadian applicants, you present this letter directly to CBP at the port of entry alongside your credentials. For Mexican applicants, you submit it as part of your visa application at a U.S. consulate.
Where can I find Rehabilitation Psychologist jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Rehabilitation Psychologist roles at employers with TN visa sponsorship history, so you're not applying blind and hoping HR knows the process. Filtering by sponsorship track record is especially useful for this specialty, since TN familiarity varies widely across healthcare employers.
Can Mexican citizens also use the TN visa for this role?
Yes, Mexican citizens qualify under the same USMCA occupational list, but the process differs. Mexican applicants must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at a port of entry, and a limited annual allocation applies. Processing timelines are longer, so plan accordingly and confirm your employer is prepared for consular-route sponsorship.
