Travel Consultant Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel consultant in North Dakota?
North Dakota does not require a state-issued license to work as a travel consultant, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most employers look for a degree or certificate in travel, hospitality, or tourism from institutions like North Dakota State University or Bismarck State College, combined with hands-on GDS training. Earning a Certified Travel Associate credential through The Travel Institute strengthens your application considerably at agencies and corporate travel departments across the state.
Which companies hire travel consultants in North Dakota?
North Dakota travel consultant roles are posted by American Traveler, Talented Medical Solutions, and Voyage Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The hiring mix in North Dakota reflects the state's blend of corporate accounts tied to agricultural and energy sectors alongside leisure agencies serving the region's outdoor tourism market.
Which North Dakota cities have the most travel consultant jobs?
Fargo, Bismarck, and Jamestown account for the most travel consultant openings in North Dakota. Fargo leads as the state's largest metro and commercial hub, anchoring most corporate travel management roles, while Bismarck's concentration of state government agencies and energy sector offices drives steady demand, and Grand Forks benefits from its university presence and regional healthcare employer base generating consistent group and corporate travel needs.
Are there remote travel consultant jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, and more than many service roles, since travel consulting is primarily phone, email, and software-based work that translates well to remote settings. About 75% of travel consultant openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting that flexibility. Corporate account management and independent leisure consulting tend to offer the most remote arrangements, while group tour coordination roles more often require in-person client contact.
How can I get hired as a travel consultant in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a front-desk or reservations role at a North Dakota hotel or regional tourism operation, which builds the GDS familiarity and client-handling experience agencies look for. Bismarck State College and North Dakota State University both offer hospitality and tourism programs with employer connections in the state. Entry-level customer service positions at corporate travel departments tied to Fargo's financial and healthcare sector employers also open doors, and completing a Certified Travel Associate course signals seriousness to hiring managers even without years on the job.
Where can I find and apply to travel consultant jobs in North Dakota?
You can find and apply to travel consultant jobs in North Dakota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and preferred location or work arrangement, and apply directly to whichever ones fit your situation.
