Travel Nurse RN Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel nurse rn in Oregon?
To work as a travel nurse rn in Oregon, you must hold an active Oregon Registered Nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, which requires completing an accredited associate or bachelor's degree nursing program and passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Oregon is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, so out-of-state nurses must obtain a separate Oregon license before starting any assignment.
How much do travel nurse RNs make in Oregon?
Travel nurse RNs in Oregon earn a median of about $129,010 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $95,280 for the lowest 10% to over $155,010 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire travel nurse rns in Oregon?
Employers hiring travel nurse rns in Oregon right now include Voyage Health, American Traveler, and Healthforce, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oregon's largest health systems, including academic medical centers in Portland and regional hospitals throughout the Willamette Valley, generate the most consistent contract volume.
Which Oregon cities have the most travel nurse rn jobs?
Portland, Hermiston, and Corvallis have the most travel nurse rn openings in Oregon. Portland drives the largest share of listings due to its dense cluster of major health systems and trauma centers, while Salem and Eugene reflect strong regional hospital demand serving Oregon's mid-valley and university communities.
How can I get hired as a travel nurse rn in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a nurse residency program, which OHSU Health and Legacy Health both run for new graduates in Portland, giving you the structured acute-care hours that travel agencies require. Building toward one year in a med-surg or telemetry unit at any Oregon hospital is the next step, as those specialties have the shortest experience thresholds for travel contracts. Obtaining your Oregon State Board of Nursing license promptly after passing the NCLEX-RN puts you ahead of candidates still waiting on licensure.
