DESCRIPTION
The Amazon Advertising User Experience (AUX) team is looking for a senior design leader to develop and scale design teams dedicated to creating innovative experiences that connect brands/businesses/agencies with their customers; globally and at scale. In this role, you’ll lead (and grow) a high-performing team of UX professionals (managers, designers, writers, design program managers, and researchers)—working collaboratively with engineering and product management and senior leadership through all aspects of the product development life-cycle.
This role leads an area of strategic significance for our flagship products including self-service Advertising Console. You'll have the opportunity to build new advertising solutions starting with product definition. Most importantly, you will have a direct impact on the customer experience of advertisers, agencies, and brands globally.
Key job responsibilities
Own design strategy and roadmap across the Amazon Ads platform, partnering with product, engineering, and business leadership to translate market opportunities and customer needs into a scalable design vision
Lead and develop the design organization—establish culture, hiring standards, mentorship, and career development that attract and retain world-class design talent
Drive design operations excellence—establish systems, processes, and tools that enable the team to move at velocity while maintaining quality and craft
Execute high-impact design initiatives—lead end-to-end design from problem definition through production launch, ensuring designs are intuitive, performant, and measurable
Build industry-leading experiences across all customer touchpoints: campaign builders, management tools, reporting dashboards, agentic copilot experiences, and emerging AI-powered workflows
Partner with cross-org stakeholders—work closely with peer design leaders, principal engineers, and product directors to unify experiences and accelerate innovation across Amazon Ads and partner teams
Establish design governance and standards—define and evolve design patterns, accessibility standards, and design systems that scale across a growing product portfolio
Communicate design vision compellingly—present strategic and tactical recommendations to senior leadership, executive sponsors, and external stakeholders (holding companies, customers, industry partners)
Mentor and develop emerging leaders—coach individual contributors into design managers and future directors; foster a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety
Drive customer obsession—ensure design decisions are grounded in data, research, and deep understanding of advertiser workflows, pain points, and aspirations

Our 40-person design team (designers, researchers, writers) collaborates closely with product, engineering, and business teams to transform complexity into clarity.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
12+ years of professional design experience, including 8+ years leading design teams
Proven expertise in AdTech, B2B enterprise UX, SaaS platforms, or sophisticated workflow software (AdTech, financial services, analytics, etc.)
Deep understanding of design strategy, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design best practices
Experience designing end-to-end product experiences from discovery through production
Demonstrated ability to communicate design concepts clearly to diverse audiences (executives, engineers, business stakeholders)
Track record of building and scaling high-performing design teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of direct experience in advertising technology (AdTech), demand-side platforms (DSP), or programmatic trading
Experience designing AI-assisted or agentic user experiences that transform how users work
Familiarity with emerging design challenges in multi-agent systems, autonomous workflows, and human-AI collaboration
Leadership experience in fast-growing, high-velocity organizations where shipping speed is competitive advantage
Experience designing across omnichannel contexts (desktop, mobile, chat interfaces, data visualization)
Track record of building design systems and establishing design governance at organizational scale
Experience presenting to C-suite, boards, or external partners (holding companies, customers)
Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Miro) and modern design workflows

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
