UX Product Design Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ux product design in Washington?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a ux product design in Washington, so the path centers on education and portfolio. Most Washington employers expect a bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field, though strong self-taught candidates with compelling portfolios are also hired. Building case studies that show your full design process, from research and ideation through testing and final delivery, is the most consistent differentiator in this market.
How much do UX product designs make in Washington?
UX product designs in Washington earn a median of about $94,280 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,390 for the lowest 10% to over $153,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ux product designs in Washington?
Employers hiring ux product designs in Washington right now include Amazon, TikTok, and Amazon Web Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's density of large technology headquarters and enterprise software companies means in-house design teams tend to be well-resourced, with dedicated research, systems, and product design functions rather than generalist catch-all roles.
Which Washington cities have the most ux product design jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland have the most ux product design openings in Washington. Seattle and Bellevue drive the majority of listings because of the concentration of major technology headquarters and fast-growing startups in the greater Puget Sound corridor, while Redmond's volume reflects Microsoft's large and active design org operating out of its main campus there.
Are there remote ux product design jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 25% of ux product design openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally the work translates to distributed collaboration tools. The roles most likely to stay fully remote are those focused on systems design, visual design, and async research work, while roles involving frequent stakeholder workshops or embedded team rituals tend to require some in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a ux product design in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate product designer role at a mid-size Washington technology company, where smaller teams give new designers broader exposure faster. Amazon, Microsoft, and Expedia all run structured design apprenticeship or new-grad programs that do not require prior full-time design experience. Candidates coming from adjacent roles in visual design, UX writing, or product coordination have a strong conversion path. A tight portfolio of two or three well-documented student or personal projects carries more weight than credentials alone in Washington's hiring culture.
Where can I find and apply to ux product design jobs in Washington?
