Which accounting companies sponsor visas in Alabama?
Major visa sponsors include Regions Financial Corporation and BBVA USA in Birmingham, along with mid-sized CPA firms like Warren Averett and KraftCPAs. Manufacturing companies such as Mercedes-Benz U.S. International and Airbus also sponsor accounting professionals for their finance departments. Regional firms serving Alabama's automotive, aerospace, and energy sectors frequently need international talent with specialized industry knowledge.
How to find accounting visa sponsorship jobs in Alabama?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for accounting positions in Alabama that offer visa sponsorship. Filter by cities like Birmingham, Montgomery, and Huntsville where most opportunities exist. Focus on corporate finance roles at manufacturing companies, positions at regional banks, and openings at mid-sized CPA firms that serve Alabama's key industries like automotive, aerospace, and healthcare.
Which visa types are most common for accounting roles in Alabama?
H-1B visas dominate for accounting positions, particularly for roles requiring specialized knowledge in areas like international tax, forensic accounting, or industry-specific compliance. Some entry-level positions may qualify for F-1 OPT extensions. Senior roles at multinational companies occasionally use L-1 visas for intracompany transfers, especially in Alabama's automotive and aerospace manufacturing sectors.
Which Alabama cities have the most accounting visa sponsorship jobs?
Birmingham leads with the highest concentration due to major banks like Regions Financial and BBVA, plus numerous corporate headquarters. Montgomery follows with government contracting firms and state-related financial services. Huntsville offers opportunities in aerospace and defense accounting, while Mobile provides positions in logistics, shipping, and energy sector accounting roles.
What prevailing wage considerations affect accounting jobs in Alabama?
Alabama's lower cost of living results in prevailing wages that are typically 15-25% below national averages, which can make H-1B applications more competitive. However, specialized roles in automotive manufacturing, aerospace, or international tax often command higher wages. Birmingham and Huntsville markets generally offer the highest prevailing wages for accounting professionals in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting jobs in Alabama?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
