Job Description
Alabama State University, Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position, Director of Creative Content. The Director of Creative Content is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of high-impact visual and digital storytelling that enhances brand identity, audience engagement, and organizational visibility. This role oversees the creation of multimedia content, including video, photography, graphic design, and social media assets, to support marketing, communications, recruitment, and brand initiatives. The Director will manage creative staff, establish content standards, and ensure all materials reflect a consistent, innovative, and compelling brand presence across platforms.
This position supports the Associate AD for Communications and Associate AD for Creative Content in leading a successful multimedia department covering 18 NCAA Division I athletics programs. Excellence in each area will be attained through building relationships with local media, accurate statistical compilation and record keeping, social media expertise and promotion of all athletic department activities, game recaps, press releases, and special features.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive creative content strategy aligned with organizational goals and brand standards.
- Ensure consistency in visual identity, messaging, and storytelling across all platforms and communications.
- Oversee the creation of multimedia content, including, video features, promotional pieces, and motion graphics.
- Photography and visual storytelling.
- Social media graphics and digital assets.
- Website and digital marketing content.
- Manage production schedules, workflows, and project timelines to ensure timely delivery.
- Work closely with marketing, communications, development, recruiting, and external relations teams to align content with strategic priorities.
- Fast-paced, creative environment with frequent collaboration across departments.
- Evening, weekend, and travel requirements may be necessary for events, productions, or campaigns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, Film Production, or related field, demonstrated experience leading creative teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously, excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, strong portfolio showcasing video, design, photography, and/or digital storytelling work, proficiency in industry-standard software (Adobe Creative Suite, video editing platforms, motion graphics tools).
