Which education companies sponsor visas in Montana?
The University of Montana and Montana State University are the primary visa sponsors for international educators, offering positions for professors, researchers, and specialized instructors. Select K-12 districts in Billings, Missoula, and Great Falls occasionally sponsor visas for teachers in high-demand areas like mathematics, science, and special education, particularly when facing rural teacher shortages.
How to find education visa sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Use Migrate Mate to browse education positions specifically filtered for Montana that offer visa sponsorship. Focus on university research roles, STEM teaching positions, and special education openings in Billings and Missoula. Many sponsorship opportunities arise from Montana's rural teacher shortage initiatives and university expansion in technical programs.
Which visa types are most common for education roles in Montana?
H-1B visas dominate for university faculty and specialized K-12 teachers, particularly in STEM fields. J-1 exchange visitor visas are common for visiting scholars and international teaching fellows at Montana's universities. O-1 visas occasionally apply for distinguished professors with exceptional achievements in research or specialized educational fields.
Which cities in Montana have the most education sponsorship jobs?
Missoula leads with University of Montana positions and selective K-12 sponsorship opportunities. Bozeman follows through Montana State University's growing research programs. Billings offers occasional K-12 sponsorship for specialized teachers, while smaller university towns like Havre and Dillon have limited but consistent opportunities for international educators.
What are prevailing wage considerations for education roles in Montana?
Montana's education prevailing wages reflect the state's lower cost of living compared to coastal areas, which can benefit H-1B applications. University positions typically meet wage requirements easily, while K-12 sponsorship requires careful attention to district pay scales. Rural districts may face challenges meeting prevailing wage thresholds for specialized teaching positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored education jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
