Which education companies sponsor visas in Idaho?
The University of Idaho, Idaho State University, and Boise State University are the primary visa sponsors for international educators. Major school districts including West Ada School District (Meridian), Boise School District, and Pocatello-Chubbuck School District also sponsor H-1B visas for specialized teaching positions, particularly in STEM subjects and world languages where local teacher shortages exist.
Which visa types are most common for education roles in Idaho?
H-1B visas dominate education sponsorship in Idaho, especially for university faculty and specialized K-12 teachers in math, science, and world languages. J-1 visa exchange visitor programs are common for visiting scholars and researchers at universities. Some districts use TN visas for Canadian and Mexican educators, while O-1 visas occasionally apply to distinguished researchers at major universities.
How to find education visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate provides the most comprehensive database of Idaho education positions with confirmed visa sponsorship. Focus on university systems in Moscow, Pocatello, and Boise, plus major school districts facing teacher shortages. Many positions become available for fall semester hiring between January and May, with research roles having more flexible start dates throughout the year.
Which cities in Idaho have the most education sponsorship jobs?
Boise leads with opportunities at Boise State University and large school districts like West Ada and Boise School District. Moscow hosts the University of Idaho, offering research and faculty positions. Pocatello provides opportunities through Idaho State University and surrounding districts. These three cities account for roughly 80% of education visa sponsorship positions statewide.
What are the prevailing wage requirements for education jobs in Idaho?
Education prevailing wages in Idaho vary significantly by role and location. University positions in Boise and Moscow typically meet H-1B wage thresholds more easily than rural districts. K-12 teachers may face challenges in smaller districts where local salary scales don't reach required prevailing wage levels, making STEM and world language positions more viable for sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored education jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
