Snapshot of Your Day
The primary purpose of this position is to set up and operate a variety of machines and equipment to fabricate and test stator coils according to specifications, work packages, drawings, and other information. Will perform work procedures from sections A-C below, depending upon production priorities.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Read blueprints, drawings, engineering specifications and other work package information to determine operations required.
- Set up and perform all table assembly operations for the making of various coils. Operate Eddy Current machine.
- Operate vent tube insulator, tube cure oven and other machines.
- Perform all forming and curing operations on various coils applying block test equipment, short circuit test equipment and a variety of hand tools. Make first angle bends; check for crossed wires; block test; locate correct second bend blocks; make second bend. Wrap coil in Tedlar, install heaters, etc. Stand test or short circuit test.
- Clean, check fit, and performs brazing operation on header caps and consolidates ends of single tube stack coils, double tube stack coils and conventional coils. Perform air leak and helium leak tests.
- Set up and repair forms.
What You Bring
- Requires the ability to read, write, complete simple forms, and understand simple written instructions. Requires the ability to perform arithmetic skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions. Could require simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, or diagrams. Equivalent to a high school education or equivalent experience.
- With the above preparation and training, it would take Over 3 months, up to and including 12 months.
- Involves using acquired job knowledge to apply judgment when following standard procedures and methods for making minor decisions.
- Moderate attention required when setting up various machine equipment and making adjustments, which could result in damages to specific parts or sections of equipment.
- Errors would be detected in succeeding operations, but considerable loss of material or rework time would be involved to correct the errors.
