Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in Arkansas?
The largest sponsors for medical assistant roles in Arkansas are integrated health systems. Baptist Health, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Mercy Health Arkansas, and Arkansas Children's Hospital are among the most active employers. These organizations have established HR and legal infrastructure to support H-1B and TN visa filings, which makes them more likely to sponsor qualified international candidates than smaller independent clinics.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in Arkansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for medical assistants in Arkansas when the role is classified as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant degree. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA professional category. Some employers also hire medical assistants on OPT or STEM OPT extensions. Eligibility depends on the specific job duties, required credentials, and how the employer structures the position.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Little Rock is the primary hub, anchored by UAMS, Baptist Health's flagship campus, and Arkansas Children's Hospital. Fayetteville and Bentonville in Northwest Arkansas are growing markets driven by population expansion and the presence of Mercy Health facilities. Fort Smith has a smaller but active healthcare hiring market. Rural hospital systems elsewhere in the state occasionally post openings but sponsor visas far less frequently than these urban centers.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter medical assistant roles by state to see only Arkansas positions where employers have indicated openness to visa sponsorship. This saves time compared to screening general job postings manually. Migrate Mate focuses on roles at health systems and clinics that have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates, which is particularly useful for navigating the Arkansas healthcare hiring market.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for medical assistants in Arkansas?
Arkansas requires medical assistants to work under direct physician supervision, and credentialing standards can affect how employers classify roles for visa purposes. UAMS functions as both a major employer and an academic medical center, which means it sometimes has cap-exempt H-1B status for certain affiliated positions. The state's relatively lower cost of living compared to coastal markets can influence prevailing wage determinations, which employers must meet when sponsoring H-1B workers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
