Which companies sponsor visas for physicians in Arkansas?
The largest physician visa sponsors in Arkansas include UAMS Health (the academic medical system tied to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences), Baptist Health, CHI St. Vincent, and Arkansas Children's Hospital. Regional health systems serving rural areas, such as White River Health and Jefferson Regional Medical Center, also sponsor physicians, particularly in primary care and hospitalist roles where shortages are most acute.
Which visa types are most common for physician roles in Arkansas?
The H-1B visa is the most common path for internationally trained physicians in Arkansas, covering specialty and primary care roles that qualify as specialty occupations. The J-1 visa is also widely used for physicians completing residency or fellowship training, often with a Conrad 30 waiver available in Arkansas for those who commit to practicing in underserved areas for at least three years after training.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most physician sponsorship jobs?
Little Rock has the highest concentration of physician sponsorship opportunities, anchored by UAMS, Baptist Health, and CHI St. Vincent. Fayetteville and Springdale in Northwest Arkansas are growing significantly, driven by population growth and expanding health system presence. Jonesboro, home to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital and Arkansas State University, is another active hiring market, particularly for hospitalists and primary care physicians.
How to find physician visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate filters physician jobs in Arkansas specifically by visa sponsorship, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support international candidates. Search for physician roles on Migrate Mate and filter to Arkansas to see active opportunities at health systems like UAMS and Baptist Health. Roles in rural or underserved designations frequently come with J-1 visa Conrad waiver eligibility, which is worth confirming directly with each employer.
Are there state-specific considerations for physicians seeking visa sponsorship in Arkansas?
Arkansas participates in the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which allows up to 30 J-1 physicians per year to waive the two-year home residency requirement by committing to work in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) or Medically Underserved Area (MUA) for three years. This makes Arkansas particularly accessible for internationally trained physicians willing to practice in rural or underserved communities, where demand is consistently high.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
