Which companies sponsor visas for business development executives in California?
Large technology and enterprise software companies are the most consistent sponsors for business development executives in California. Salesforce, Google, Meta, Oracle, Qualcomm, and Genentech have filed Labor Condition Applications for senior BD roles in recent years. Life sciences companies in San Diego and biotech firms in the Bay Area also sponsor regularly, particularly for executives with specialized industry networks and partnership development backgrounds.
Which visa types are most common for business development executive roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for business development executives in California. USCIS generally considers these roles specialty occupations when they require a bachelor's degree or higher in business, marketing, finance, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary achievement in their industry may qualify for the O-1A. Australian citizens may pursue the E-3, which has no lottery and allows annual renewals.
Which cities in California have the most business development executive sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose and Santa Clara, concentrates the highest volume of business development executive sponsorship roles, driven by the density of enterprise technology companies. Los Angeles follows, particularly in media tech, fintech, and e-commerce. San Diego is a strong market for BD executives in life sciences, defense technology, and wireless communications, with Qualcomm and several biotech firms headquartered there.
How to find business development executive visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify business development executive positions in California without sorting through listings that exclude international candidates. You can search by role type and state to surface relevant openings across technology, life sciences, and enterprise software companies that have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for senior BD professionals.
Are there state-specific considerations for business development executives seeking sponsorship in California?
California's strong presence in venture-backed technology means many business development executive roles are at growth-stage companies, where H-1B sponsorship is common but timelines can be longer due to smaller legal and HR infrastructure compared to large enterprises. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements apply statewide, and wages for BD executives in Bay Area tech hubs reflect some of the highest prevailing wage levels in the country, which employers must commit to in the Labor Condition Application.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development executive jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
