In this role, you will define hypothesis-driven analysis, design and scale structured experimentation, and translate complex datasets into clear business cases, financial models, and strategic recommendations. You will play a key role in defining and evolving executive-level KPIs, conducting post-mortem analyses, and identifying high-impact opportunities that may not yet be visible to the broader organization.
You’ll work closely with Operations, Finance, Product, and Business Intelligence to uncover insights, design and evaluate experiments, and support both day-to-day optimization and longer-term planning. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working with data, and seeing their ideas translate into real operational improvements.
This position is ideal for a strategy-minded operator (e.g., consulting, strategy, or advanced analytics background) who excels at structuring ambiguous problems, extracting insight from imperfect data, and translating strategy into action within a complex, high-volume environment.

- Develop business cases, financial models, and capacity analyses to evaluate tradeoffs and investments
- Partner with Business Intelligence to improve visibility into key metrics and performance drivers
- Turn complex or messy data into simple, actionable insights
Support KPI Tracking & Performance Management
- Contribute to KPI tracking and reporting by analyzing performance trends and identifying drivers of change
- Support post-launch and post-mortem analyses to measure impact and capture learnings
- Highlight high-impact opportunities to improve throughput, service levels, and cost efficiency
Contribute to Strategic Planning
- Support longer-term planning efforts by building analyses and frameworks that inform operational strategy
- Conduct benchmarking and research to bring new ideas and perspectives to the team
- Help connect day-to-day performance insights to broader business priorities
Collaborate Across Teams
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Product, Finance, and Systems to move initiatives forward
- Manage multiple projects across analysis, testing, and implementation phases
- Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to a range of stakeholders
What You Bring To The Role
Minimum Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in management consulting, strategy, or analytics roles
- Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems and translate data into strategic recommendations and business cases
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience using Excel/Google Sheets and Business Intelligence tools to work with large datasets, ideally through a financial, capacity, or multi-scenario lens
- Experience designing and evaluating experiments or pilots, including defining success metrics and interpreting results
- Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex workstreams and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working cross-functionally across operations, merchandising, product, and analytics teams
- Proficiency in Google Suite (ex. Gmail, Google Slides, Google Sheets)
- Ability to travel up to 15%
Preferred Requirements:
- Professional experience ideally includes 2+ years in management consulting or strategy
- Experience with Visio or similar process mapping tools
- Experience in ecommerce, marketplace, logistics, supply chain, or high-volume operational environments
- Familiarity with KPI design, experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, pilot structures), and performance measurement systems

Which e-commerce companies in California sponsor H-1B visas?
California hosts some of the most active H-1B visa sponsors in e-commerce. eBay (San Jose), Shopify (with significant California operations), StubHub, Poshmark, and Wish have all appeared in DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data as e-commerce H-1B filers. Larger tech companies with e-commerce divisions, including Google Shopping and Meta Commerce, also file H-1B petitions regularly from their California headquarters.
Which California cities have the most e-commerce H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, San Francisco, and Sunnyvale, accounts for the highest concentration of e-commerce H-1B roles in California, driven by established marketplaces and funded startups. Los Angeles follows, with a strong presence of direct-to-consumer brands, fashion e-commerce, and marketplace platforms. San Diego has a smaller but growing cluster, particularly in subscription and retail tech companies.
What types of e-commerce roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in California?
H-1B sponsorship applies to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In California's e-commerce sector, roles that commonly qualify include software engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, UX researchers, product managers, and digital analytics specialists. Roles in logistics technology, personalization engineering, and marketplace trust and safety have also appeared in California LCA filings. General sales, operations, or customer support positions typically do not meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I find e-commerce H-1B sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to browse e-commerce H-1B roles in California without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform aggregates openings from employers with documented H-1B filing histories, so you can focus your applications on companies that have sponsored international workers in e-commerce before, particularly in the Bay Area and Los Angeles markets.
Are there California-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in e-commerce?
California's high concentration of venture-backed e-commerce startups means some employers are smaller and may be filing H-1B petitions for the first time, which can involve longer internal preparation timelines compared to established sponsors. California also enforces its own labor laws independently of federal standards, and employers filing Labor Condition Applications must comply with both DOL prevailing wage requirements and California wage and hour regulations. If you're considering a startup sponsor, confirming their experience with H-1B filings is a reasonable step before committing to an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B e-commerce jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
