Responsibilities:

Position Summary: Under general direction of the Director of Risk Management, the incumbent performs a specific range of high level analytical and administrative functions critical to risk management operations. Responsibilities include:
1. management of the General Liability program.
2. daily review of online reports via the Incident Reporting system to identify potential areas of risk exposure and trends.
3. investigation of potential injury claims. Assists Director with management of Professional Liability claims, Intensive Review process and other projects as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite applications
• Strong analytical skills to effectively comprehend complex system reports and analyze an array into an actionable form
• Resourcefulness to identify and search for information that is not readily available
• Knowledge of mandatory hospital reporting obligations and responsibilities. Must know and comply with Code of Conduct standards and the Corporate Compliance Program
• High degree of professionalism to recognize the need for discretion and maintain confidentiality
• Excellent organizational skills, flexibility and composure to coordinate multiple assignments/projects simultaneously with efficiency and timeliness
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop written summaries and reports and author letters to external contacts
• Excellent judgment for decision-making requirements
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with physicians, managers and high-level administrative staff as well as support staff who are critical to departmental functions
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with external contacts to include counsel, representatives of UCOP, District Attorneys, Public Defenders, Law Enforcement Agencies
• Excellent PC skills to design and maintain custom databases, produce reports, and capture and manipulate data
• Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent combination of college coursework and administrative work experience in a healthcare setting
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction

• Knowledge of legal/litigation process
• Knowledge of claims management process
• Knowledge of University policies and procedures
• Familiarity with Academic Risk Management operations
