About the team/role
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting and based in San Francisco, CA or Denver, CO, you'll play a strategic, highly visible role within Checkr's Finance Operations (FinOps) organization — shaping how deals are structured and new revenue models come to market while ensuring alignment with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP. You'll lead technical revenue accounting analyses, own the revenue close process, and translate accounting guidance into clear, scalable policies that balance compliance, efficiency, and commercial impact. You'll partner closely with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, and RevOps to influence decisions that directly shape Checkr's continued growth.
- Own technical revenue accounting under ASC 606, serving as subject matter expert for complex revenue recognition matters, including contract assessments, non-standard deal structures, and evolving pricing and product models.
- Lead the revenue accounting close for month-end and quarter-end, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Provide strategic accounting guidance to the business, partnering with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, RevOps, and FP&A to influence deal structures, product launches, and go-to-market initiatives before execution.
- Design, prototype, and ship AI-enabled tools and agents that automate manual work across the quote-to-cash lifecycle, compounding impact within the team and beyond.
- Draft technical accounting memos and maintain SOX-ready documentation, owning key controls and supporting audit readiness across revenue processes as the business scales.
- Lead high-impact revenue initiatives and special projects, applying technical judgment and analytical insight to enable compliant growth and data-driven decision-making.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred; 6+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience (Big 4 plus industry preferred).
- Deep technical expertise in U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, with demonstrated experience evaluating complex customer contracts, non-standard deal structures, and revenue recognition judgments.
- Track record owning revenue close activities with increasing scope, speed, and accuracy, plus strong project ownership leading ambiguous or cross-functional initiatives.
- Demonstrated AI fluency — you've moved past using AI for one-off tasks toward building and shipping tools or agents (e.g., with Claude, Lovable, Cursor, Gemini, or similar) that create leverage for the broader team, with hands-on SQL/BI experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communicator who partners effectively with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Product, RevOps, FP&A, and Engineering — translating technical accounting conclusions for non-technical stakeholders.
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Which companies sponsor visas for revenue operations managers in California?
Enterprise software and SaaS companies are among the most active sponsors for revenue operations managers in California. Salesforce, Adobe, ServiceNow, Okta, and Workday have filed H-1B visa Labor Condition Applications for operations and revenue analytics roles in recent years. Venture-backed startups headquartered in San Francisco and Silicon Valley also sponsor this role, particularly those with Series B funding and above that are building out formal go-to-market functions.
Which visa types are most common for revenue operations manager roles in California?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for revenue operations managers in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. Candidates already holding L-1B status through an intracompany transfer are another pathway if their current employer has a U.S. entity. O-1A visas may apply for candidates with demonstrable recognition in revenue or GTM strategy, though this is less common.
Which cities in California have the most revenue operations manager sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Silicon Valley corridor, including San Jose and Palo Alto, account for the highest concentration of revenue operations manager sponsorship jobs in California. Los Angeles is a growing hub, particularly within ad-tech, media-tech, and e-commerce companies. San Diego has a smaller but active cluster tied to life sciences software and cybersecurity firms that have built out dedicated revenue operations teams.
How to find revenue operations manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters revenue operations manager roles in California by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sifting through listings that won't work for your situation. The platform surfaces employers with documented H-1B sponsorship history, which is particularly useful for this role category where sponsorship availability varies widely between early-stage startups and established enterprise companies in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for revenue operations managers seeking sponsorship in California?
California's strong worker protections and high cost of living mean the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for revenue operations managers in the San Francisco Bay Area are among the highest in the country, which employers must meet when filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application. California is also home to several universities, including UC Berkeley and Stanford, whose MBA and analytics programs create a pipeline of international graduates who pursue sponsorship in this role category.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored revenue operations manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
