About the Global Fashion Team:
The Global Fashion team is one of eBay's most vital verticals, generating approximately $10 billion in Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV). Our focus spans key categories such as apparel, sneakers, watches, handbags, and jewelry. We drive initiatives like eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee, Connected Products, and Certilogo, all aimed at building the future of circular fashion. Our mission is to make sustainable commerce easier and more rewarding for brands, sellers, and customers alike.
Role Overview: Strategy & Business Operations Lead, Fashion
As the Strategy & BizOps Lead for Fashion, you will play a pivotal role advancing the success of eBay’s Global Fashion programs. This is a high-leverage role for someone who can turn ambiguity into a crisp strategy, align senior stakeholders, and drive execution across Category, Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering.
Using AI-enabled capabilities, you will lead work end-to-end—executive narratives and materials, strategic deep dives, and operational cadence—to translate priorities into measurable outcomes. You will report to the Director of Luxury.
What you’ll do
- Set the growth agenda: Translate leadership priorities into a focused roadmap across jewelry, handbags, watches, sneakers, apparel, and accessories—defining what to win, where to invest, and how success is measured.
- Run the business: Build and operate the operating rhythm (OKRs, weekly/monthly business reviews, initiative governance, decision logs) that drives clarity, accountability, and speed.
- Lead strategic projects: Identify the biggest growth constraints (selection, price/value, conversion, seller activation, trust signals), quantify the opportunity, and drive cross-functional plans with clear owners and milestones.
- Drive AI-enabled transformation: Identify where AI can unlock step-change outcomes (e.g., listing quality/attribute extraction, pricing guidance, personalized merchandising, counterfeit/risk detection, seller support automation), then partner with Product/Data/Eng to pilot, measure, and scale.
- Create executive narratives: Produce tight, compelling materials for senior leaders—problem statements, options, tradeoffs, recommendations, and clear asks.
- Unblock execution: Influence across teams, resolve tradeoffs, and ensure follow-through—especially when priorities compete.
What you bring
- Management consulting background: Proven structured problem solving and executive-ready communication; experience leading complex, cross-functional workstreams from strategy to execution.
- AI experience: Led or partnered on GenAI/ML initiatives with measurable impact (e.g., automation, model-driven workflows, analytics/decisioning, experimentation, or product features).
- Strong operator and program leader: Builds operating systems, drives momentum, manages multiple priorities, and closes loops with rigor.
- Analytical horsepower: Comfortable with messy data; able to synthesize quickly into actionable insights and clear recommendations.
- Executive storytelling: Able to distill complexity into crisp narratives, decision points, and compelling materials for senior leadership.
- Ecommerce fluency: Strong understanding of ecommerce/marketplace dynamics; Fashion and/or re-commerce experience is highly desirable.
- Influence without authority: Navigates complex stakeholder environments and drives alignment across Category, Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

Which companies sponsor visas for strategy business operations roles in California?
Large technology companies are among the most active sponsors for strategy business operations roles in California, including Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, and Uber, all headquartered in the Bay Area. Healthcare companies like Kaiser Permanente, entertainment firms like Netflix and Disney, and management consulting firms with California offices also regularly sponsor international candidates for operations and strategy positions.
Which visa types are most common for strategy business operations roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy business operations professionals in California, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with exceptional records may qualify for the O-1A. Australians can pursue the E-3, which has no lottery and processes faster. L-1B transfers are also used when candidates move internally within a multinational.
Which cities in California have the most strategy business operations sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Mountain View, and Menlo Park, has the highest concentration of strategy business operations sponsorship jobs in California, driven by its tech industry density. Los Angeles is a strong second, particularly in entertainment, media, and consumer technology. San Diego has a growing cluster in biotech and defense, while Sacramento offers opportunities in government-adjacent operations roles.
How to find strategy business operations visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers and filters strategy business operations roles in California by visa sponsorship availability, so you can skip companies that do not sponsor. The platform surfaces employers with active LCA filings and H-1B sponsorship history, which is especially useful in California where the job market is competitive and not every posting makes sponsorship status clear.
Are there any California-specific considerations for strategy business operations sponsorship candidates?
California's prevailing wage requirements are typically higher than the national average, especially in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, meaning employers must pay H-1B holders wages that reflect the local market rate for their specific role and level. California also has a strong pipeline from Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UCLA MBA programs, so international candidates from those schools sometimes have existing employer relationships that facilitate sponsorship conversations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy business operations jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
