ABOUT THE ROLE
AES Clean Energy (AES CE) is seeking a Senior Manager, Growth Strategy to lead AES’s cross-functional growth planning and project origination within the SPP, MISO and ERCOT. Operating at the intersection of market strategy, business development, and execution, this role is accountable for shaping and advancing the company’s development pipeline across targeted markets and technologies.
This position offers a unique opportunity to combine deep market expertise with cross-functional leadership, connecting strategic vision with the analytical rigor needed to drive real development outcomes and unlock differentiated solutions. At its core, this role is about defining where to compete and how to win, and ensuring those choices are translated into action across the organization.
The Senior Manager fosters close collaboration with leadership across Development, Origination, External Affairs, and Execution teams to generate new opportunities, inform key development decisions, and lead high-impact strategic initiatives aligned with regional Growth Plans.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and strategic - someone who takes extreme ownership, thrives in ambiguity, and brings both a systems-level perspective and a strong analytical foundation to every challenge.
Key Responsibilities
-
Generate and advance new project opportunities across solar, storage, and powered land by identifying high-value greenfield sites and creative development plays to build a competitively advantaged pipeline; drive cross-functional diligence (land, transmission, interconnection, permitting and offtake) and present go/no-go recommendations to senior leadership.
-
Lead high-priority strategic initiatives and analyses, applying structured problem-solving to ambiguous challenges to develop market insights and recommend actions that drive business outcomes.
-
Develop executive-level materials and decision frameworks to communicate pipeline insights and investment recommendations.
-
Support evaluation of inbound opportunities and provide strategic analysis to inform leadership decisions.
-
Develop and apply deep expertise in regional market dynamics - including ISO/RTO structures, wholesale markets, development lifecycle, policy, regulation, interconnection, and permitting - and lead market intelligence analysis to identify expansion opportunities and competitive tactics.
-
Partner with Policy, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to develop market advocacy strategies and positions that influence market design, regulatory outcomes, and commercial structures to support project development and maximize portfolio value.
-
Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including utilities, ISOs, regulators, and industry participants, to identify opportunities and support strategic initiatives.
-
Leverage GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth) to support site identification, transmission analysis, and portfolio-level market insights.
-
Lead and develop a high-performing team of analysts and associates, including recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top talent, while setting clear expectations and providing coaching and mentorship.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex analytical workstreams, and deliver strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
-
Deep expertise in U.S. power markets, ISO/RTO frameworks, interconnection processes, and/or energy policy - with the ability to translate technical complexity into business insight.
-
Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external partners.
-
Demonstrated track record of mentoring junior professionals and building high-performing, collaborative teams.
-
Strong judgment in ambiguous environments; comfortable owning decisions with incomplete information.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, Environmental Science, or a related field required.
-
Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, MS) strongly preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE

7+ years of progressive experience in power project development, origination, regulatory and policy analysis, market strategy, or infrastructure investment.
-
Minimum 2–3 years of direct people management or team leadership experience required.

Demonstrated experience leading M&A diligence, greenfield origination, or market entry strategy in the energy sector.
-
Deep exposure to ISO/RTO markets, interconnection processes, data centers, and/or energy policy/regulatory environments required.
-
Prior experience in clean energy development (solar, storage, wind) strongly preferred.
SKILLS

Which companies in Colorado sponsor visas for growth managers?
Denver and Boulder are home to several employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for growth and marketing roles, including Palantir Technologies, Ibotta, Ping Identity, and Zayo Group. Larger enterprise tech firms and well-funded Series B and C startups in the Denver metro tend to have established immigration processes and are more likely to sponsor growth manager candidates than early-stage companies.
Which visa types are most common for growth manager roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for growth manager positions in Colorado, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as marketing, business analytics, or computer science. Candidates already holding L-1B or O-1 status sometimes transfer into growth roles, and Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa using a business analyst classification where the duties align.
Which cities in Colorado have the most growth manager visa sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the majority of sponsored growth manager roles in Colorado, driven by its dense concentration of tech, fintech, and SaaS companies. Boulder is a secondary hub with a strong startup ecosystem anchored by the University of Colorado and Techstars. Colorado Springs has a smaller but growing tech presence, primarily in defense-adjacent software firms that occasionally hire for growth functions.
How to find growth manager visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find growth manager roles in Colorado that include visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs specifically for sponsorship eligibility, saving you from applying to roles where immigration support isn't available. Given how competitive Denver and Boulder's growth hiring market is, using a sponsorship-focused search tool helps you prioritize companies that have an active track record of sponsoring international candidates in marketing and growth functions.
What should international growth manager candidates know about Colorado's hiring market?
Colorado's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B growth manager roles are benchmarked to the Denver metro area, which reflects a competitive tech job market. Many Colorado employers, particularly in Boulder's startup community, favor candidates with demonstrated product-led growth or analytics expertise. The University of Colorado and Colorado State University supply local talent pipelines, so international candidates often strengthen their applications by highlighting quantifiable growth outcomes and domain specialization that differentiates them from the domestic applicant pool.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored growth manager jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
