Which companies sponsor visas for program directors in Colorado?
Healthcare systems like UCHealth, SCL Health, and Children's Hospital Colorado regularly sponsor program directors, as do aerospace and defense employers such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman along the Front Range. Technology companies in the Denver-Boulder corridor, including government contractors and enterprise software firms, also have established sponsorship histories for senior program leadership roles.
Which visa types are most common for program director roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program directors in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as public health, engineering, or business administration. Candidates with extraordinary ability in their field may also qualify for an O-1. Some research-focused program directors at universities may find J-1 exchange visitor positions, though those carry a two-year home residency requirement.
Which cities in Colorado have the most program director sponsorship jobs?
Denver is by far the largest market for program director sponsorship, driven by its concentration of healthcare systems, technology employers, and nonprofit organizations. Boulder adds significant demand through its research institutions and tech sector. Colorado Springs contributes primarily through defense and government contracting, while Fort Collins sees openings tied to Colorado State University and its affiliated research programs.
How to find program director visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for program director roles in Colorado without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can narrow results by city, industry, and visa type to focus on employers in Denver, Boulder, or Colorado Springs who have active sponsorship programs for program leadership positions.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for program director visa sponsorship?
Colorado's strong university system creates a pipeline of program director openings at research institutions, many of which are cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning they can file H-1B petitions outside the annual lottery. The state's defense and aerospace sector also employs program directors in roles that may involve security clearances, which can complicate or slow the sponsorship process for foreign nationals. Understanding which employers hold cap-exempt status is particularly valuable in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program director jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
