Which insurance companies in Delaware sponsor Green Card visas?
Wilmington-based operations of Cigna, Highmark Delaware, and several specialty carriers and reinsurance firms have established Green Card sponsorship track records, particularly for actuarial and underwriting roles. Delaware's status as a corporate domicile for many financial holding companies also means that risk management and compliance professionals at those parent entities may be sponsored through the same Delaware-registered employer.
Which cities in Delaware have the most insurance Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington is by far the primary hub, hosting the majority of Delaware's insurance and financial services employers. Newark sees some activity tied to corporate offices near the University of Delaware corridor. Dover, as the state capital, has limited but present insurance employment through state-regulated entities and health plan administrators. For most insurance Green Card sponsorship opportunities in Delaware, Wilmington is where candidates should focus their search.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Delaware?
Roles requiring specialized education and licensure are most commonly sponsored. These include actuaries with Fellow or Associate designations, senior underwriters in specialty or commercial lines, risk analysts, claims litigation specialists with legal backgrounds, and compliance officers familiar with state insurance regulations. IT roles embedded within insurance operations, such as data scientists building predictive models for underwriting, are also sponsored with regularity by larger carriers in the state.
How do I find insurance Green Card sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking employer-sponsored Green Card positions, including insurance roles in Delaware. You can filter by state and visa type to surface verified sponsorship opportunities from carriers and financial firms operating in Wilmington and across the state. Because Green Card sponsorship requires significant employer commitment, Migrate Mate focuses your search on employers who have demonstrated a pattern of sponsoring permanent residence, saving time on outreach to companies unlikely to sponsor.
Are there any Delaware-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in insurance?
Delaware's Division of Insurance regulates all carriers doing business in the state, and some employer-sponsored roles require state licensing alongside the Green Card petition process. Employers must still complete the PERM labor certification before filing an I-140, which means the role must reflect a genuine recruitment effort meeting DOL requirements. Delaware's concentration of holding companies and captive insurers also means some sponsoring entities are technically domiciled in Delaware even when work is performed elsewhere, which can affect the prevailing wage determination used in PERM filings.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card insurance jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
