Which technology companies sponsor H-1B visas in Delaware?
Delaware's largest H-1B visa technology sponsors are concentrated in financial services, where banks and credit card companies maintain substantial engineering teams. JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Barclays, and Discover Financial have all filed H-1B petitions for technology roles in Delaware. DuPont and consulting firms like Accenture and Cognizant also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as Delaware H-1B sponsors for software and IT positions.
Which cities in Delaware have the most technology H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the overwhelming majority of H-1B technology roles in Delaware. It serves as the state's financial and corporate hub, housing the technology divisions of major banks and credit institutions. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, has a smaller but growing cluster of technology employers. Dover, the state capital, has limited private-sector technology sponsorship activity by comparison.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Delaware?
Software engineers, data engineers, cybersecurity analysts, cloud architects, and quantitative developers are among the roles most commonly sponsored under H-1B in Delaware. Many of these positions are tied to financial technology, fraud detection, payments infrastructure, and data analytics within Delaware's banking sector. Roles must qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field.
How do I find technology H-1B sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for H-1B technology jobs in Delaware, surfacing roles from companies with verified sponsorship histories. Because Delaware's technology market is heavily weighted toward financial services, filtering by industry alongside visa type helps narrow results to employers actively filing petitions rather than those that sponsor only occasionally.
Are there any Delaware-specific considerations for technology H-1B sponsorship?
Delaware's incorporation-friendly legal environment means many companies are legally registered here but operate their technology teams in other states, so it's worth confirming the actual work location before applying. For roles physically based in Delaware, the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determination will reflect Wilmington-area rates. Delaware has no state income tax on wages, which is relevant context when evaluating compensation packages.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B technology jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
