Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for events roles?
Large hospitality and entertainment employers are the most consistent sponsors. Universal Parks and Resorts, Walt Disney World, Marriott International, Hyatt, and major convention management firms like Freeman and Encore have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B petitions for events and hospitality roles. Corporate event departments at financial services and healthcare companies based in Florida also file sponsorships for qualifying positions.
Which visa types are most common for events jobs in Florida?
The H-1B is the primary visa for events roles classified as specialty occupations, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, or a related field. The O-1A is an option for professionals with demonstrable extraordinary achievement in the events industry. International candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT extension frequently transition into sponsored roles through these pathways.
Which Florida cities have the most events visa sponsorship jobs?
Orlando leads the state due to its concentration of theme parks, convention centers, and resort properties, including the Orange County Convention Center, one of the largest in the country. Miami is a close second, driven by its international conference market, luxury hospitality sector, and event production companies. Tampa and Fort Lauderdale also have active sponsorship activity tied to their convention centers and hotel groups.
How to find events visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for events roles in Florida without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. The platform covers roles across event coordination, production, operations, and venue management. Filtering by Florida and the events category on Migrate Mate surfaces openings from employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor work visas.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for events professionals seeking visa sponsorship?
Florida's events industry is heavily seasonal, with peak demand tied to convention schedules, tourism cycles, and hurricane season. Employers sponsoring H-1B visas must pay the prevailing wage for the specific role and county, which is determined by the Department of Labor and can differ between Orlando, Miami, and Tampa metropolitan areas. Candidates with hospitality or event management degrees from Florida universities including UCF and FIU are well-positioned given strong employer pipelines from those programs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored events jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
