The Director, Events directs the development, planning, and daily operations of the meetings and events for the assigned department. Specifically, the incumbent oversees staffing, venue selection, set-up, tear-down, and on-site project management for all activities and events.

Coordinates all amenities and accommodations at the event.

Monitors and controls event budgets and negotiates all necessary contracts.

Negotiates and writes proposals to secure sponsorship to offset event expenses.

Oversees that proper financial paperwork is completed.

Works with print and broadcast media for coverage of events.

Recaps and analyzes events offering suggestions for improvement.

Develops and promotes community relations opportunities.

Oversees performance of vendors, volunteers, and staff at events.

Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience required
