Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapists in Idaho?
St. Luke's Health System and Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center are among Idaho's larger healthcare employers with documented histories of sponsoring work visas for clinical roles. Outpatient rehabilitation groups and long-term care facilities in the Treasure Valley have also sponsored physical therapists. Sponsorship is never guaranteed, and practices vary by location, staffing needs, and the specific visa category involved.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapist roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physical therapists in Idaho, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Some employers use the EB-3 immigrant visa pathway for permanent sponsorship, particularly in high-need rural areas. International physical therapists must also obtain a state license from the Idaho Board of Medicine before starting work.
Which cities in Idaho have the most physical therapist sponsorship jobs?
Boise and its surrounding Treasure Valley cities, including Meridian and Nampa, account for the highest concentration of physical therapist job openings in Idaho, driven by population growth and the presence of major health systems. Idaho Falls and Pocatello also generate consistent demand. Rural areas across southern and eastern Idaho are actively recruiting, and some rural employers are more open to sponsorship given persistent shortages.
How to find physical therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers and filters physical therapist roles in Idaho by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving significant time compared to general job searches. Search for physical therapist positions filtered to Idaho and look for employers who indicate H-1B or employment-based green card sponsorship. Confirming sponsorship willingness directly with the employer's HR or recruitment team before applying is always recommended.
Are there state-specific considerations for physical therapists seeking sponsorship in Idaho?
Idaho requires physical therapists to hold an active Idaho state license before practicing, which means passing the NPTE and meeting the Idaho Board of Medicine's requirements, including verification of foreign credentials through a recognized evaluation service. The licensure process can take several months, so coordinating the timeline with an employer's visa sponsorship process is important. Idaho's ongoing healthcare workforce shortage, particularly outside Boise, has made some employers more willing to support foreign-trained PTs through the full sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapist jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
