Which companies sponsor visas for corporate accountants in Illinois?
Large Illinois-headquartered multinationals are among the most consistent sponsors for corporate accountant roles. Companies like Abbott Laboratories, Caterpillar, Deere and Company, United Airlines, and major financial institutions in Chicago's Loop have established immigration programs and regularly file H-1B visa petitions for accounting professionals. Consulting firms such as Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG, which have significant Chicago presences, also sponsor corporate accountant positions.
Which visa types are most common for corporate accountant roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for corporate accountants in Illinois, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA licensure strengthens a petition considerably. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category, which lists accountants as an eligible profession and does not require lottery selection.
Which cities in Illinois have the most corporate accountant sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the large majority of corporate accountant sponsorship activity in Illinois, particularly in the Loop, River North, and the suburban corridor along I-88 through Naperville and Downers Grove. Deerfield and Lake County host pharmaceutical and healthcare headquarters including Baxter and AbbVie. Peoria and the Quad Cities region have a smaller but consistent base of manufacturing-sector accounting roles.
How to find corporate accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search corporate accountant openings in Illinois without sifting through postings from employers who do not sponsor. The platform surfaces roles from multinationals, financial services firms, and manufacturers across Chicago and the broader state, making it practical to identify which employers are actively hiring internationally for accounting positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for corporate accountants seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois does not require CPA licensure for the title of corporate accountant, but employers filing H-1B petitions must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific role and county where work is performed, which varies between Chicago metro and downstate regions. Illinois also has a strong pipeline of international accounting graduates from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and DePaul University, which some employers have existing recruiting relationships with.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored corporate accountant jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
