Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for finance directors?
Large Chicago-headquartered corporations are the most active sponsors for finance director roles in Illinois. Companies like Exelon, United Airlines, Kraft Heinz, Hyatt Hotels, and major financial institutions including Northern Trust and CME Group have histories of sponsoring senior finance professionals. Healthcare systems such as Advocate Health Care also hire at the finance director level with sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for finance director roles in Illinois?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for finance directors in Illinois, as the role typically meets the specialty occupation requirement through its demand for a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, or a related field. Senior candidates with multinational backgrounds may also qualify for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa or, in exceptional cases, the O-1A for extraordinary ability.
How to find finance director visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify finance director openings in Illinois without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. You can browse roles filtered to Illinois and review which employers have active sponsorship histories in senior finance. This saves significant time compared to manually researching each employer's sponsorship track record.
Which cities in Illinois have the most finance director sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of finance director sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, financial services firms, and large healthcare networks. Suburban markets including Deerfield, Schaumburg, and Oak Brook also have corporate campuses with senior finance hiring. Outside the Chicago metro area, sponsorship opportunities at the finance director level are limited.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for finance director visa sponsorship?
Illinois employers sponsoring H-1B finance directors must file a Labor Condition Application certifying the offered wage meets the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metro area, which is among the higher prevailing wage markets nationally. Chicago's deep finance talent pool means employers have options, so international candidates are most competitive when they bring specialized expertise in areas like treasury, financial systems, or industry-specific finance not easily sourced locally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance director jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
