Search Finance Director Jobs in North CarolinaFinance Director Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for finance directors in North Carolina?
Charlotte-based financial institutions, including Bank of America and Wells Fargo, have a track record of sponsoring senior finance roles. Research Triangle Park employers in biotech and technology, such as Biogen and Lenovo's North American operations, also file for finance director positions. Large health systems including Atrium Health and Duke University Health System sponsor finance leadership roles as well.
Which visa types are most common for finance director roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for finance directors, as the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates with multinational experience may qualify for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa if moving within the same corporate group. Senior professionals with exceptional records sometimes pursue the O-1A.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most finance director sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte generates the highest volume of finance director sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of major banks, private equity firms, and corporate headquarters. The Research Triangle area, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, is the second most active region, with sponsoring employers spanning technology, life sciences, and higher education. Greensboro and Winston-Salem contribute smaller but consistent numbers from manufacturing and logistics firms.
How to find finance director visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search finance director roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces roles from financial services, healthcare, and technology employers across Charlotte and the Research Triangle. Filtering by role seniority and state lets you focus your applications on employers actively open to international candidates at the director level.
Are there state-specific considerations for finance directors pursuing sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific metro area, so a finance director role in Charlotte will have a different prevailing wage threshold than one in Raleigh or Greensboro. The state's strong university pipeline, particularly from UNC Kenan-Flagler and Duke Fuqua, means employers are familiar with international talent, though sponsorship decisions remain employer-specific and are never guaranteed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance director jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
