Which technology companies sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas in Illinois?
Illinois technology employers with documented LCA filing history for H-1B1 Chile workers include Motorola Solutions, Morningstar, Salesforce, Uptake Technologies, and several large consulting firms headquartered in Chicago. Financial technology companies along the LaSalle Street corridor also file regularly for Chilean professionals in software engineering and data analytics roles. Sponsorship patterns vary by year and role, so reviewing current DOL disclosure data gives the most accurate picture.
Which cities in Illinois have the most technology H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the substantial majority of H-1B1 Chile technology sponsorship activity in Illinois, particularly in the River North, West Loop, and Fulton Market neighborhoods where tech employers cluster. Naperville and Schaumburg in the suburban technology corridor also see meaningful activity from enterprise software and telecommunications firms. Smaller markets like Champaign-Urbana have some university-adjacent tech employers but at significantly lower volumes.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Roles that consistently qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B1 Chile requirements include software engineer, data scientist, DevOps engineer, cybersecurity analyst, machine learning engineer, and cloud architect. Each position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, information systems, or electrical engineering. General IT support or non-degree-required technical roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find technology H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters Illinois technology jobs by H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history, showing which employers have actively sponsored Chilean professionals for specific roles. Searching by the H-1B1 Chile visa type on Migrate Mate surfaces software engineering, data science, and infrastructure positions at Illinois companies with verified sponsorship records, which is more reliable than manually reviewing OFLC disclosure files for each employer separately.
Are there any Illinois-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship in technology?
Illinois imposes no state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal H-1B1 Chile rules, but the state's concentration of financial technology and enterprise software employers means prevailing wage levels set by DOL for Illinois technology roles can be high relative to other markets. Chilean nationals should also confirm their degree equivalency aligns with U.S. specialty occupation standards, particularly for three-year Chilean university degrees, before assuming eligibility for a specific role.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Chile technology jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
