Which medical devices companies sponsor visas in Illinois?
Abbott Laboratories leads Illinois medical device sponsorship, particularly for engineers and regulatory affairs specialists at their Abbott Park headquarters. Baxter International in Deerfield sponsors for biomedical engineers and manufacturing roles. Stryker, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic also maintain Illinois operations with active H-1B and TN sponsorship programs for technical positions.
How to find medical devices visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international candidates with Illinois medical device companies offering visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for sponsorship-eligible roles at Abbott, Baxter, and other major Illinois employers. Focus on manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs positions which have the highest sponsorship rates in Illinois medical devices.
Which visa types are most common for medical devices roles in Illinois?
H-1B visas dominate Illinois medical device sponsorship for engineering and regulatory roles requiring specialized knowledge. TN visas are common for Canadian and Mexican engineers, especially in manufacturing and quality systems. O-1 visas occasionally appear for senior R&D positions at companies like Abbott, while E-3 visas serve Australian engineers in technical roles.
Which cities in Illinois have the most medical devices sponsorship jobs?
Abbott Park leads with Abbott's global headquarters offering the highest concentration of sponsored positions. The Chicago metropolitan area, including Deerfield and Lake Forest, hosts multiple device companies with active sponsorship. Rockford and suburban Cook County also provide manufacturing-focused opportunities, particularly for process and quality engineers.
What prevailing wage considerations apply to Illinois medical devices roles?
Illinois medical device roles typically command higher prevailing wages than general manufacturing due to FDA regulatory requirements and specialized knowledge needs. The Chicago metro area drives wage levels higher, while downstate positions may offer lower prevailing wages but still meet H-1B requirements. Biomedical and regulatory engineers see particularly strong wage premiums.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical devices jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
