Which airlines companies sponsor visas in Illinois?
United Airlines leads visa sponsorship in Illinois with its major hub at O'Hare, followed by American Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Regional carriers like Republic Airways and SkyWest Airlines also sponsor visas for specialized positions. These companies typically sponsor H-1B visas for technical roles like aircraft maintenance engineers, flight operations specialists, and IT professionals supporting airline operations.
How to find airlines visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international job seekers with airlines companies in Illinois that sponsor work visas. The platform filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers in the Illinois aviation sector, including positions at O'Hare-based carriers and regional airlines. This targeted approach helps you identify legitimate sponsorship opportunities with established airlines operating in the Chicago area.
Which visa types are most common for airlines roles in Illinois?
H-1B visas are most common for specialized airline positions in Illinois, particularly for aircraft maintenance engineers, flight operations analysts, and aviation IT specialists. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying roles. Some airlines also sponsor L-1 visas for international transfers and O-1 visas for individuals with extraordinary expertise in aviation technology or operations management.
Which cities in Illinois have the most airlines sponsorship jobs?
Chicago dominates airlines visa sponsorship opportunities in Illinois due to O'Hare International Airport's status as a major hub. The surrounding areas of Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, and Schaumburg also host airline operations and maintenance facilities. Rockford occasionally offers opportunities with cargo airlines, while Peoria provides limited regional airline positions, but the vast majority of sponsorship jobs concentrate in the Chicago metropolitan area.
What are the prevailing wage requirements for airlines jobs in Illinois?
Airlines employers in Illinois must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage standards when sponsoring H-1B visas, with rates varying by job classification and geographic area within the state. Chicago-area positions typically command higher prevailing wages due to the metropolitan cost of living. Airlines companies must document that sponsored positions meet or exceed these wage floors, which are updated annually and vary significantly between entry-level and senior technical roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored airlines jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
