DESCRIPTION:
Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? Helping Hand is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Day Program team!
As a DSP, you'll provide hands-on support, training, and encouragement to help individuals thrive in daily living, community integration, recreation, and work skills. You'll play a vital role in building independence, fostering inclusion, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
- On-site position, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
- Salary range $21.50-$22.50/hr (hourly/non-exempt).
- Salary based on skills and experience.
- Up to 6% annual bonus potential.
- 403b retirement plan with up to a 4% company match.

- Support individuals in daily activities, personal care, and skill-building.
- Lead and implement engaging lessons and activities.

WHAT YOU BRING:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Experience working with intellectual and developmental disability population (preferred).
Skill Sets:
- Ability to fulfill all necessary training requirements of the agency, including but not limited to, crisis management (including de-escalation strategies and physical management techniques) and DSP training within 90 days of hire if applicable.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and proof of ongoing personal motor vehicle insurance.
- Ability to promote and adhere to company values.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist clients, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- The person in this position may encounter clients exhibiting physical aggression; must be comfortable working in periods of crisis and feel comfortable de-escalating individually or as a team.
- The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Consistently position self to maintain files in file cabinets or assist clients/students.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
