Which companies sponsor visas for product owners in Illinois?
Several large Illinois-based employers have consistent track records of H-1B visa sponsorship for product owner roles. These include Morningstar, Zebra Technologies, Allstate, Guaranteed Rate, and major consulting firms like Accenture and Deloitte with significant Chicago offices. Large healthcare technology companies such as Outcome Health and NantHealth also sponsor product owners. Sponsorship activity tends to concentrate in Chicago's Loop, River North, and Fulton Market tech corridors.
Which visa types are most common for product owner roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product owner positions in Illinois, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. L-1B visas are also used when international employees transfer from a foreign affiliated office into a product owner role at a U.S. entity. O-1 visas are rare but possible for candidates with documented extraordinary achievement.
Which cities in Illinois have the most product owner sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the vast majority of product owner sponsorship opportunities in Illinois. Neighborhoods like the Loop, Fulton Market, and the Merchandise Mart area host dense concentrations of fintech, healthtech, and enterprise software employers. Outside Chicago, Naperville and Schaumburg have a smaller but meaningful presence, driven by corporate headquarters of companies like Motorola Solutions and ACCO Brands, both of which have sponsored product-focused technical roles.
How to find product owner visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find product owner roles in Illinois where employers are actively open to visa sponsorship. You can filter specifically by role type and state, surfacing opportunities at companies with verified sponsorship histories. Because product owner postings in Illinois move quickly, particularly in fintech and healthtech, checking Migrate Mate regularly for new Illinois listings gives you an advantage over broader, unfiltered job searches.
Are there state-specific or role-specific factors product owners should know about Illinois sponsorship?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa requirements beyond federal rules, but product owner candidates should be aware that the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determination for this role in the Chicago metropolitan area reflects a competitive market. Employers must certify the offered wage meets that standard on the Labor Condition Application. Illinois also has a strong pipeline of international product management candidates from programs at the University of Illinois, Northwestern, and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, which means employer familiarity with sponsorship processes tends to be relatively high.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product owner jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
